I bought Teclast tablet for my daughter online class Google Meet. However after 4 hours class, the battery will drain off from 100% to ~20%.. I thought the battery life is up to 7 hours. Anyone experiencing same issue for those that using for online class? Thanks.

the SOT published most likely with minimal brightness. At the end the screen on time still depends on the brightness you turned on for the device and also what other processes running behind the scene/background.

For this, may be a better idea to look out for a good condition used Ipad or Ipad Pro. You should get more screen time.

Anyone have problems with the screen being unresponsive on the edges?

For example when I have the keyboard up, I hit the "backspace" key and the "p" key registers.
It's almost like the screen calibration is off.

Can any gurus here provide advice on how to fix this problem?

Thanks!

Have you tried using any touch calibration app to fix this? There are plenty in play store.

Yep, just tried one that allows me to draw on the screen and there is a section about the width of the backspace key running the length of the screen (portrait mode) where I am unable to draw anything...meaning the screen does not register any touches there at all. It's looking more like a defective touch sensor. UGH

I might try opening it up and seeing if it's merely a loose connector.

If anyone has other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

How much is your teclast? My huawei mediapad T5 was only 699. I get frequent updates, like every month or alternate months. Still getting my updates this round. Ya it's 3gb ram 32gb rom. It's 4g enabled but I only use it at WiFi environment so don't have sim card. I put in a 32gb ram microsd because my fiancee saves ours photos into this tablet for future viewing purpose.

So far no laggy no issue. Only netflix has issue when I fast forward too many times continuously, the video will hang and must restart netflix. But netflix can start back from last watch so all is good.

Bought it last year for RM 399 during sale.
- 64GB internal storage.
- 4GB RAM
- 6000 mAh battery (Mediapad T5 5100 mAh battery)
- Android 10
- supports dual-SIM ( hybrid). LTE. Dual band WiFi

Of course, it is not the best tablet, but for that price, I am not complaining. It still does a decent job for that price la. For Netflix, definitely Mediapad T5 is the winner as I assume it supports Widevine L1, but I wonder why yours doesn't support FHD?

No idea why doesn't support FHD but I have no preference. But to date, my battery life very good. I usually use it at night coz day time is working time. Start using 8pm everyday after dinner to watch netflix. Can last 3 or 4 days watching videos from 8pm to around 10.30pm daily. Of coz come 4th day is subjective because battery at around 30%. Sometimes I continue watching, sometimes I'll charge it directly. Which teclast model is yours.

Also bigger battery don't translate to better battery life and longer usage time. Your chipset is unisoc SC9863A. Heard of this unisoc chipset? Your chipset is 28nm. My huawei is kirin 659, in 16nm. The different is 43% power usage. Having a larger battery purpose is to cover for the cheapo chipset. For 16% bigger battery, you are actually using 43% more power. And also unknown brands like teclast will not provide support after a few months. Mine still receiving although it's already a 3 yrs old tablet since launched by Huawei. Well my mediapad is also dual band WiFi LTE but of coz LTE is useless to me. I'm in a 500mbps Internet environment.

Well to each person, their preference. If your teclast has issues within 12 months of usage, really must ponder if rm399 is well spent, or should spend 300 more to get a stable tablet. My tablet is 1 and half years since bought last year February. Still good to date.

Is Mediapad T5 running on Android 10 or 11? I checked online and can only find Android 8 (Oreo) update available for this device. Please correct me if I am wrong. You may receive constant security updates and UI updates but I don't think it is as good as receiving an upgrade to OS 10 or 11. So in my opinion, any tablet is outdated after 2-3 years, be it Huawei or Teclast, unless you have spent a good RM 4K for a premium tablet such as the latest Matepad Pro or Samsung S7+ tab. And for a brand that is banned by major companies including Google itself, I don't see it as a stable device sweat.gif

As for the battery life, P20HD still lasts well, probably short 1-2 hours compared to Mediapad T5 as I have mentioned earlier but still good, isn't it? So 43% more power usage may sound as big as a dinosaur on the paper but in reality, it doesn't mean so much. Furthermore, the newer Android version also means better battery optimization.

Being said that, I am not going to say that Teclast P20HD is the best tablet in the world, but for that price, I don't find anything else better. And I am using my P20HD for more than 12 months, without any issues (EDIT : actually 11 months. I realised I bought it in September last year during 9.9 sales, but it feels like I am having it for years) :-). Well, nothing is perfect in this world. Any device could have issues and when it happens, it will be happier that I have only wasted RM 399 instead of RM 699.

Again, no tablet is perfect. If I am willing to spend more, I would still go for a better option, definitely not Huawei or Samsung or Apple (which I think overpriced) but another brand that has a decent reputation and good feedback/review. The key here is research. I am not going to buy some unknown tab just because it is cheap. I will definitely read a lot about the device to make sure it is worth spending on.

P/S : for those who are considering P20HD, you may also check out Alldocube iPlay 20S. Since P20HD is about RM 450 - 500 now, I personally think Alldocube iPlay 20S will be a good alternative, despite using the same processor and similar specs.

Ah that is true to a certain degree. Having Android 10 is better in a way. Yes it's Android 8.0. However as long as the manufacturer provided constant updates to 8.0 for performance optimization, why not? No point having Android 10 when your updates don't come anymore. Also banning from using Google carries no meaning since it only affects later phones, but not earlier models before the ban. Google also promised future updates to models before the ban. So all is fine. Having Android 10 is only good if it gets frequent optimizations. Otherwise, when u get a bad update and no more updates after that, rm300 down the drain. Some apps need later Android versions to function, but so far so good for me. Didn't encounter issues where my Huawei cannot use the app.

Of course as long as you don't mind the constant and long charging hours (6100 again 5100) then all is good. I'd prefer something that can last longer hours with lesser charging time. Anyway RM399 is definitely value for money if you don't mind most of the things like 1 yr life, short battery life and stuffs like that. On paper, it does look good with 4gb ram and 64 gb rom. But ya your choice. I'd rather spend a bit more and don't give me issues like touch screen issues, screen brightness issues etc etc etc. Haha for rm300 more (699 vs 399), I get a peace of mind knowing will last 2 yrs before my next upgrade, since tablet price don't go down that much compare to mobile phones and not much tablets are introduced in the market, I'd love to stick to one that can last me 2 yrs. Imagine u buy for a year, full of problems, then need to buy a new tablet, but most tablet price mostly the same, in the end 399 wasted. Buy another 399 of the same device?

Also, huawei has been doing tablet for years. So having huawei against some unknown brand like teclast, rm300 isn't that much. Teclast is rather new in the market, thus most reviews are of early stage usage. Use it longer and you'll find more issues. Anyway not a problem. Different people different perspectives.

Cheers.
