Hi all fellow Malaysians. I am a Cina middle aged music lover. I have on and off listened to Malay songs since the late 80's but never consistently nor systematically. Now I am having more free time, I wish to explore more Malay pop songs that are excellent during the 80s and the 90s. Based on my limited experience in Malay songs, these are my favourite songs that are of my taste:

1. Ikhlas Tapi Jauh (the whole album) - Zainal Abidin
2. Gerimis Semalam - Sheila Majid (and most of her songs)
3. Widuri
4. Apo Nak Dikato - The Blues Gang
5. Isabela - Search
6. Layar Impian - Ella (and most of her songs)

(Siti Nurhaliza - too new for me already!)
Generally I like sentimental, slow rock, city pop, jazz, and blues, especially songs with great melody and/or good lyrics. Hard rock - No No No.
I'd really appreciate your recommendations.
