Dear /ktards,

I am deciding between 2 designs for eating area for my kitchen. Each design has it's pros and cons.

Please help me decide. Family of 4.

If you can add reasoning for you choice, that would be very helpful.

Option 1: Peninsula

Option 2: Small Dining Table for 4

Additional info to add since I become cleverer: I have a proper dining area that can seat 6-8. This is solely for kitchen.

I’d have both in the home peninsula for the quick meal, and a dining table for the group dinners

In this case would go with a Dining Table because it seems like space is limited in your home and a table is more flexible

Not enough space for round table. Hence why the peninsula option instead of an island.

Why? I need to list down all the pros and cons before we decide.

Yes. One of the pros of option 2 is the dining set is replaceable.

modern living is all about looks. Option 1 provide the bestest look, while option 2 very old fashioned.

prefer 2, at least can have better eye contact with family.

option1 one more member sit where? inside?

if got space, make L shape instead of C, and dining table put elsewhere. Hob so near, its oily and smelly.

Your island/peninsula can seat how many people initially?

This is for kitchen only, and like you said, it is for quick meal like breakfast or anything that you serve in individual plate.

I have separate dining area for 6-8 separated from the kitchen.

Peninsula would seat 3 person, not enough space to accommodate 4 seats. Dining table, on the other hand can seat 4 person comfortably.

Ok now that you’ve cleared that up, then option 1 is cool.

It doesn’t beat the flexibility of a dining table but at least it looks better, easier to clean as well.

Also since you already have a main dining table then i doubt another table here is going to be utilised very much. A bar is more useful.

But realistically at the end of the day people gonna be eating in front of TV anyway lol.
