Hey everyone,

I had a random blood test done last week and when the results came back, it seems I have elevated TSH levels and low Free T4 levels. After some reading up, I assume that I have hypothyroidism. Some symptoms that I am experiencing includes insensitivity to cold, weight gain, dry skin and hair loss and fatigue (most of which I attributed to lifestyle changes and aging). I am 32 years old.

I am at fix regarding which doctor/hospital to go to? I have no idea where to start. If anyone has any suggestions, experiences or advice, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi. Yeah, that is definitely hypothyroidism (judging from your symptoms and blood test). I would suggest you to go to a nearby klinik kesihatan. The reason being
1. Very cheap (RM 1). Including meds.
2. Long term continuation care

Hypothyroidism requires long term care and requires adjustments for prescription depending on TSH and T4 level. Meaning, the doctor will have to monitor your TSH and T4 level regularly to adjust how much medication to give. It’s like hypertension, diabetes, etc..

Being said that, u can choose private GP if u can afford and for a faster service generally. If u ask me, I would opt for KK since i can save a lot this way and in terms of quality of care, it won’t differ much.

im the opposite of you where im having hyperthyroidism...my condition was pretty serious back 2 years ago so I didn't go for KK where it will take up longer time to process so i went to private...my doc is at pantai cheras, she is very caring, explain my situation, how the treatment goes etc I visit her like 3 months once so the fee to me is ok
