This is the photo taken by my Canon A420 recently.
The colours is "runaway" !
This camera is just 1yr + 3months; it's running out from it's warranty period!
I'm guessing the sensor is going wrong in my camera.

1. Anyone know what is the real factor that make this error?
2. Anyone know how much is the price to repair it?

Thank you!

Did you accidently use one of the presets?
As I know, you can get that with your handphone cameras after selecting the "effect".

I don think its a software/effect problem.
I was reset my camera for few times, but it shows me the same result.
Sometimes, I can get a normal shot (but still have some vertical lines on the photo) out of 10 shots.

Just send to Canon in Shah Alam lah. If it's their fault, they'll replace it FOC.
If not, they should tell u the price needed for repair. If it's too expensive, then just buy a new camera.

Don't bother to send to Canon shop coz they'll just send it to the Shah Alam HQ and charge you runner fees.

Pyton: My problem wasn't like that...yours looks like Venom(of Spiderman 3 fame) got into ur camera...gulp...

What a coincidence. My Powershot A510 also died after 1year, 3 months of usage! Cannot be powered-up. The quality control of Canon is getting a bit suspect...

processor problem is also not acceptable, you write call canon and f*** them, this is not wear and tear cleary this is low quality or flawed design, if you are good at f**king them they will change it for you for free.

okies, i hv to train my f* vmad.gif *king skills and try to get FOC service / repair from Canon. flex.gif

i hv the same thinking as urs; processor problem is not acceptable.
the camera is just 1yr + 3 months only, and i just take 5k shots...

* unless they purposely design their processor to works for 5k shots.

From your shot, it looks different from my CCD problem. Best advice is to sent direct to Canon HQ @Saujana Shah Alam, I believe it will be repaired FOC even though you are out of warranty. Unless your problem cropped up because of your misuse, the technicians will know. However you will need to leave your camera at the Service Centre and they will get back to you in a few days.

Nope... I thought it was hopeless to try to claim warranty for a warranty-expired product, and that repairing such a cheap camera may not be worth it compared to saving up for a new one (or new accessories for my current one...).

Funny thing is, Canon service centre is like almost right in front of where I stay in Singapore...

i'm not sure i can get a repair for FOC or not since my camera is running out from its warranty period.
if the problem is really happens on Sensor (CCD) or processor, it's really upset and unacceptable.
it will break the good image of Canon in my heart.

If it is proven CCD problem, Canon will defenitely replace a new camera for you. Don't worry about that. My friend faced the similar problem a year ago and he got new camera replaced eventhough the warranty period is over.

Yes, I was try to get FOC service or discount from them; I failed to do so.
I asked the technician how long (or after how many shots) the repaired part can last after I repair it, he told me that he also can not guaranteed abt it. He only manage to give me 3 months warranty on the repaired part. cry.gif

By the way, any forumer know abt A530? it's good?
