this one depends on your partner as well as her circle of friends which indirectly sets her expectation... so if all her married friends is wearing 1 carat... then 1 carat ring is normal..

having said that, buy within your means... if 0.3 is what you can afford then go for it... if she gets upset it's small then maybe you shouldn't marry her lol

reputable shops like those commercial ones SK, poh kong etc....

Diamonds they will explain the 4C bla bla bla... cut, clarity, color, etc.... the lowest priority should be color because naked eye can't really tell the difference.... the cut of the diamond is most important... if it's cut well it'll be shiny so that's something eye can tell difference

good luck bro and congrats!

oh 1 more thing... SK got lab grown diamonds which is the same as actual diamonds except it's lab grown, they call it Star Carat or something

with your budget, get lab grown one can get a bigger carat... but of course make sure she's okay with it la...

I would rather recommend you to get gold and keep it as a couple. You see, diamond is a scam, it's not really that rare and its scarcity is rather played up by limitting market supply - predominantly by big players like De Beers.

The price gap in this
0.3
0.5
0.7
1.0

So below 0.45 is good price more than 0.45 will near 0.5.

For your budget..you can get quite a good ring already..i got mine from a jewelry store in Publika 1st floor

Mine was around 4.2k. I saw another ring the cut and quality apparently is higher according to the sales guy but the diamond itself was small and it costs ard 6.2k, he recommended me to go for a bigger diamond with the lower carat and clarity..so bought the 4.2k, with the much bigger diamond.

Remember none of her friends are going to carry the device to see the cut, clarity and what not.

As long as its a legitimate diamond and not zirconia. All matters is the bigger the rock the better..

her firends also wont have the alat gemological to detect the zirconia size anggur

anyway, the sales guy maciems asking you to buy avanza = bigger, instead of ketam/vios.

Enough / not enough depends on girlfriend and her family. Not for us to answer. Set a budget and just go with it. For your budget that's what you're gonna get anyway. But then again, there are differences in colour, cut and clarity which can make a hell of of difference.

Certain group of people (stereotyping here, but mostly true) likes big and big alone. Don't care colour M or N, clarity S2 or S3 or even I1 or I2 and Cut being Fair also accept.

Others have preference for colour need to be at least E/F, clarity need to be VS and Cut need to be excellent.

In Malaysia, I suggest Wah Chan or Habib. Personally, I prefer Habib as their diamond stock is significantly more and for those in the know, you may be able to find bargains there. But for the uninitiated, both makes not much difference, Wah Chan may be a better choice due to them offering more ring choices.

When choosing Diamonds, those who tak tau just hentam tibai whatever the salesman bring you. Those who know a bit will want to see different diamonds variations of the 4Cs, usually different Carat for the same colour or different colour for the same carat. Those who knows slightly more will care about where the inclusion in the diamond is, how visible it is and can choose the best out of SI1 or VS2 or VS1. Those who know even more will care about the cut quality beyond Excellent, looking into angles and the diamond chart to get the best value out of the Excellent cut for the lowest price.

Colour is the easiest to tell out of the 3 (ignoring cut).

The smaller finger your partner has, the smaller is suitable.

Too big diamond on small finger is just bad, elegance wise.

I bought .44ct for my wife. her ring size already near to baby size LOL.
