QUOTE(adkiller @ Dec 10 2020, 07:01 PM) That is a small number of deliveries actually, roughly 10 cars a month. Honestly, Proton needs a total revamp to their image among Malaysians. Now, they are resurrected to life due to Geely's products, innovations and management expertise otherwise, they will sink to obivilion. I have 2 Protons in the past when I first started my career many years ago and utterly disappointed with their cars. I sworn never to have another Proton car again. I have moved on to Japanese cars and continental cars of which I'm happy with those cars. Now, I came back to Proton because of Geely's rebadging of their car into X50 and why not, it is good based on the media reviews and brief test drive. Most dealers are only allocated with 15 cars at most, since mid November till now. Not sure what is the allocation for this month, but will only get next month. I booked on launch also my dealer saying may only get in Feb. Cakap takde orang potong q, but sounds irrational would take so long. I took the optional accessories and flagship blue color some more. However, the mind sets of their SAs rally put me off. For me, X50 will my last Proton car, no matter how good future Proton cars will going to be with Geely's inputs. Enough is enough!! |

QUOTE(infernoaswen @ Dec 13 2020, 01:13 AM) I dont quite understand the statement why x50 will be your last car. If you're getting x50 because of the quality and for the price you're paying then wouldn't you look for another proton in your next car purchase? After all we can expect the same or even better quality in the future because of Geely. To answer your question why I'm getting X50. I have a premium continental car for work purposes, a Japanese car for evening/weekend use. X50 will be my 3rd car and will join the Japanese car for the same role, i.e. evening/weekend use. Before booking X50, I test drove a continental SUV car a month before X50 was launched (without knowing it will be launched) that costs more than twice flagship price. I never have a SUV before and I think perhaps, it's time I should get one. The media reviews by some renowned motoring journalists and the Sepang test drive media where X50 outshone the other cars convinced me to go ahead to book X50 (2 weeks after the media review. i.e. October). If you're frustrated with proton then shouldn't you not get x50 in the first place? Because I can promise you, you will be facing more issues & frustrations in the service center in the future, after all its still the same management. They will need time to improve but it wont be anytime soon... I'm are sick of Proton's local management attitude and that of their SAs. I'm equally aware of SCs work attitude too, after experiencing it many years go. However, I don't want to deprive myself the experience of driving a Chinese technology car, hence X50. I believe, the Japanese car makers have a rude wake up call witnessing how Chinese car makers have improved by leaps and bounds in such a short span of about 20-25 years time. The Japanese car makers with their head start and experience in automotive engineering will have advantage over their Chinese counterparts and they just need to ensure their qualities border than of the continental cars. Thus, my future cars will continue to be continental and Japanese and not Proton. My hope is, Geely will totally revamp Proton's management in the future so they can be seen as viable altenrative to Japanese cars (like whar Dr Li said, aim to be the 3rd largest car maker in Asean behind the Japanese). |

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Dec 11 2020, 02:08 PM) As a Honda car onwer for last 6 years, the only good about it is the Engine only which give great FC. gB CVT most get claim under warranty especially city, HRV. Parts are suck nowadays after most part were made in Thailand. Brake juddering is a general problem happened to most Honda model. Solution is by using aftermarket brakepad. I guess your Accord is either the 8th or 9th generation models. Sometimes, it pains to know car owners experienced such bad quality issues when Honda cars are known to be quality cars in the other parts of the world. I have owned 3 Honda cars before and they were superb to drive and their qualities were good. Perhaps, qualities were good in the past, but have deteriorated now. It just doesn't make sense to me because it is now managed by Honda Japan, the qualities of their cars should have improve further. One of my previous bosses once told me, Honda is Japanese BMW. I hope the 10th generation Accord is good and their quality is better than the previous generations. Btw, what is the issue with Civic sterring rack?SC attitude also problem and need to find very honest sc based on owner share info. Example Semenyih SC Honda is totally suck. Leaking oil under the porch is considered normal for them. Myself also claimed 3 times driveshaft under warranty on my accord and once side mirror due to vibrating on high speed. Civic steering rack is also an issues yet to recall by honda. Btw most Honda do lack NVH even on highest model like Accord. |

QUOTE(exdtan @ Dec 23 2020, 10:47 PM) Bro do update us here if you managed to somehow fix it. This doesn't auger well for X50 after all this hype that was built up on its performance, automotive technology during the media preview, launched date and some test drives by motoring journalists. The engine is good, but the the QC of the car is a let down by Proton. This is going to hit it back in future as many people will buy X50 and soon discovered that the quality issue that came with it.Rattling - I only experienced it once last week when I start up the car after 2/3 days of inactivity. It was gone after I switch off the engine and switch it back on. Proton never learned from its past mistakes at all. As you are aware that, Proton recently exported X70 to Pakistan without doing sufficient market due digilence. It can't keep up with the order books that, it takes more than 9 months for anyone to get the car after booking. So much so, unscrupulous dealers/agents are asking for additional $$ from buyers to cut queue to get their cars. Do not export if you don't manufacture enough cars to cater for the market demands. It only affects your reputation in the market. This is the same for X50 here. I asked my SA how many X50 has your outlet delivered so far to their customers? You know what, he said, "not many". I asked him, not many is "how many"? He couldn't answer me and said, he need to ask his boss. What lah, as a SA you don't know? It means that you are not interested in your products, your job and the lack of drive. I think even with Geely on board producing good cars, Proton still will not transform inself into company of substance!! hspace liked this post

QUOTE(sanakim @ Dec 25 2020, 02:51 AM) Hey everyone. Long time lurker on this thread and seen every X50 video (except the new 1 hr video from Hafriz). Go ahead, if you have the capacity to fund the difference.Getting tired of waiting 2 months for the X50 dy.. and probably will need to wait 3-6 months. Plus SST gonna kick in soon. What do you guys think between X50 Flagship vs Honda Civic TC-P? I know there's a RM30k gap but if we put that aside, would you go for it? Considered the City V but I'm not impressed that they inherited old engine and didn't provide any ADAS at all in a 2020 model for RM90k. Hence thinking of switching over to Civic TCP. Sorry if not right forum feel free to ignore. Look forward to any advice. |

QUOTE(zero5177 @ Jan 12 2021, 11:17 AM) I will pass by the outlet showroom that I booked my X50 on my way to work each week. There are no X50 displayed there, only a couple of Saga there. So, be prepared that it is going to be a long wait for those who booked late. It's already 3 months wait for me, I booked on October 2. |

QUOTE(JJKTP @ Feb 14 2021, 02:45 PM) You should quickly inform Proton about it. It should not happened in the first place, a brand new car with rust issue! Proton is getting a second life with Geely, they should make full use of this opportunity to ensure that their products' quality and workmanship are on par with other cars. |

QUOTE(amscouzach57 @ Mar 1 2021, 03:28 PM) You should be able to register any state number plate from any JPJ office. Yes, you can register your motor vehicle with any States in Malaysia except for Labuan and Langkawi which are duty-free zone areas. Motor vehicles from these two places can only be driven in the rest of Malaysia for a certain period of time in a calendar year. The motor vehicles' prices on the road (before insurance) are lower than rest of the Malaysia. What's important is which area the road tax is registered to. For example, One of my cars is registered to Sabah number plate in Semenanjung Malaysia. I bought the Sabah plate at Padang Jawa JPJ & register the car there. n8210 liked this post

QUOTE(amscouzach57 @ Mar 1 2021, 04:53 PM) Yes, you are right. I still believe you can't do that. It is obvious to identify whether the car is bought from a duty-free area/zone is look at their registration number plate. Thus, if you are allowed to register a car from these places even though it came with all the duties paid doesn't make sense. Customs will have a tough time carrying out audit on such cars and this also can lead to abuses. The best place to confirm is with JPJ.But what about the Labuan plates? If car is bought in Semenanjung, but owner wanted to buy Labuan plates & register the car for usage in Semenanjung. Should be possible. |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Mar 1 2021, 05:00 PM) Labuan is duty free zone. Similar to langkawi plates, Labuan plates is only reserved for duty-free cars registered in Labuan. Exactly what I mentioned in my first email that you can use the car only for a specific period of time in a calendar year. To the person who posed the question, why do you want to do it? Is it because the Labuan alphabet resembles your initial so you want to register your car there?Want Labuan plates but register the car for usage in Semenanjung? Yes, can. Here are the steps; 1. Purchase your desired car (in this case it will be a X50 since this is an X50 thread) 2. Register the car in Labuan (only) 3. Once registered, you have 90 days to use the car in Peninsular Malaysia. Other than that, the car has to remain on Labuan soil for the rest of the year. 4. Want to bring the car out to use for more than 90 days? Yes, can. Pay the fine. Or risk getting the car seized and get lelong by kastam. n8210 and amscouzach57 liked this post

QUOTE(n8210 @ Mar 18 2021, 02:50 PM) An update for my situation: Surprised that the SA can promise delivery in such a short time. Where are you located and which outlet are you referring to?1- One outlet says we must add utility package, total OTR is RM100k Premium 2- Another outlet says no need, can just buy flagship, OTR is RM107k. Both can get car by next week. |

QUOTE(amscouzach57 @ May 4 2021, 08:59 PM) Depends on your needs. I'm into my 7 months of waiting for the car. The worst thing is, the SA didn't bother to update me on the car status and when I asked certain matters, he didn't bother to reply. This is the last Proton for me.At that price & spec wise. Difficult to find a contender. Even without tax holiday. If you don't mind to wait, by all means. I'm still waiting for my sis' Executive variant 😅 |

QUOTE(Nicktart @ May 6 2021, 02:16 PM) It’s ok to renew, once reaching 6 months after your 1st loan approval date, start calling Proton careline daily. HQ will chase after the dealer. I got my chassis number after 1 week. Thanks for your advice. I will call Proton careline. But don’t ask me in case u changed and applied multiple banks to compare the rate, as i just stick to 1 bank since 1st application. |

QUOTE(exdtan @ May 8 2021, 04:22 PM) That’s why, when sale involved, buy the SA, not the car. Finding the right SA is very important. If you urgently need a new car, I advise you to look away and get Honda/Perodua instead I have to agree with you on this. I walked into the Proton dealer showroom to look at X50 and this SA was present. I didn't choose him and never crossed my mind he is such an idiot and lazy guy. It's too late to change after waiting for 7 months. I'm not urgent to get a new car as I have 2 other cars with me. However, this does not mean I can tolerate the long wait or worst, dealing with someone shouldn't be in the sales lines at all. |
