Sorry, I took so long to reply to you as I wanted to provide the actions i have taken and what the car dealer with regard to my complains on the late delivery of my car.
I booked my car on October 2, 2020 (date of the VSO).
I applied for hp financing and received the LOU on November 25, 2020.
Fast forward, by May 2 2021 I have waited for 7 months from VSO date and almost 6 months from LOU date.
In the meantime, I have also applied to another bank for hp financing hoping to have a more competitive rate compared to the other bank has approved my hp rate. (hp rate shopping).
I have also called Proton HQ and complained that I have waited for so long for my car. Proton HQ said the 6 months period should be from the LOU date not from VSO date. If I don't receive my car by May 24, 2021, they will take action.
I went to the dealer to meet the manager and complain. He is just transferred to this branch a month ago, the previous manager resigned within 24 hours (suspicious ). This manager told me there are 400 bookings for X50 for various types and only 40 cars delivered so far (10% of the order book).
I received a call from this lousy SA on May 25 2021 that I have been allocated my car with chassis number given.
In the meantime, my hp application from the second bank has been approved at a very good rate compared to the earlier bank. I signed the hp agreement.
I paid the down payment on May 28, 2021.
Because of the MCO, I decided to register my car on May 31 before the total MCO lockdown kicks in on June 1 2021 and miss the tax exemption period on June 30 2021. The car will be delivered after MCO is lifted. Anyhow, this evening PM just announced the tax exemption period will be extended to December 31 2021. Doesn't matter to me anyone.
The manager assured me, car comes without accessories as demanded by other dealers.
Important takeaways, as mentioned by many people in this forum, ask around for references to reliable SAs, choose a smaller size dealers and keep following up on the SA on the status of your car.
Are you based in penang? Why your story about the changing manager almost similar to what been told by my SA?I booked my car on October 2, 2020 (date of the VSO).

Yes, once your LOU approval date past 6 months, you can directly call Proton HQ to put the pressure on the manager, no need specially talk to the manager. The dealer will need to answer HQ accordingly, and HQ allocates 1 car to the dealer for you.
