Tak salah.
Many ppl have 3 , rb, mtb, fb.
Sometime they ride according to their schedules or fancy.
I baru pun nak try, hills trail
That day just my first time on minor a hill trail. Because all this while I ride my mtb on flats 😂
I cycled successfully up but push bike on the way down. I scared to descend. To much loose sand, rocks on the trail. Lol I do not wish to break my bones again. Lol
*

thats why I bought my MTB with larger 38T chainring.
because 38t +11t still can pedal some at flats at decent speed.

I'm looking for a full suspension MTB, with budget of around Rm5k-6k.

Looking for members suggestion between these 2 options:

Merida 99 CF
or
Alcott Denon

The Merida is 29" while the Alcott is 27.5"
The Merida is available on discount as it is an old model already while the Alcott is quite new, but not much info/review

Mainly for santai ride near my place in Kemensah/Melawati during the weekend and also for ride on gravel track at my kampung in Sekinchan maybe once a month
*

that Merida is used right? because totally diff price range. $5500 pound is not RM5500.

btw, Alcott dont need RM6K. RM5.2K already for sale at Turbomad KL, may be you can try your luck if you visit there for further discount. That bike shop got a lot of people these days, not sure they got time entertain you or not lol

can check camp Alpha 9.2 too
https://turbomad.com/bicycles/mountain-bike...ha-92-slx24-red

Not sure what other different vs hydes, biggest I see is crankset they use SLX.

lower range can try Camp Whizz. I think is RM1600 for 2x10 deore gear set.

No need bro, just wear casual.  I ride my road bike with button redneck office shirt and mountain bike loose baggy pants everyday to commute to work. Felt casual enough to tour around town and many places and blend nicely with common town peoples.  Still manage to cut-off few roadies along the road while speeding. Casual with slightly loose fitting like freerider MTB is nice because malaysian hot weather allow air to flow through our clothing and cool us down.  After decades of riding and racing with my national team  i felt stupid riding on lycras and thighs because of skin tightness and sticky stuff, i've donated my tight clothings to my road buddies. Here's how i looked like now.  rclxm9.gif

Good that you wear mask even riding. rclxms.gif Last May 2020, MCO lifted I come out from my cave, I ride without mask because I use to think I cannot breath.

Nowadays I insaf already, wear mask already. It is actually not so bad with the right mask.

My chainrings are 42t-32t-24t
cassettes 11t-40t

For the steepest ascend i used Front 24t/Rear 40t to climb (pedaling cadence are the highest, and to maintain climbing & forward)
If the gradient was decreasing a little i would shift down to 36t Rear maintaining at triple chainring to gain some speed.

Me just a noobie on mountain biking.
My MTB tyres are slick type. (because all the while I just cycle on flat tarmac/asphalt)
Just recently, I got cat-curiosity to try hill biking for a change.
*

mine is a 2x11 Shimano XT gear.
38t-28t, cassettes 11-42t
I never really need lower gear ratio. Anything go below 0.65 is kinda overkill, I usually use up to 28t front 32t rear only. MTB these days going 1by or 2by chainring setup, they usually lacking on flat speed gear ratio. I tried speed flat tarmac at 38t front 11t rear, it is still not enough lol.

Tyre is the one play a major role if you try to ride on mud road. For slick, Steep tarmac road is fine, they will grip it. It is the mud road you need better tyre.

1. Yesterday I ride around my area taman, for like 1 hour. Notice my butt pain, and then today I thought the default original bike seat is not comfortable and may need to change if needed in near future for better comfort. But then, I saw those MTB short pant come with some sort of cushion inside the pant. So, wearing that will help instead of changing the seat?
*

RM25 decathlon memory foam saddler cover. Measure your saddle width, then pick the size. I suggest buy online, decathlon sometimes no stock on certain size. Buy online confirm get stock on the size you want.

https://www.decathlon.my/?query=saddle&natu...=Saddle%20cover

if that cant solve problem, May be buy the pants.(I havent tried pants b4, so no experience, no comment on this)

Also adjust saddle height play the role in butt pain. laugh.gif

anyone know where to get very cheap cantilever brake?

mine from my very old mtb is spoiled already.

Was plan to convert to V brake, but V brake need to change new brake lever. I heard cantilever brake lever not fully compatible with V brake ones. But my old bike brake lever is combined with my gear shifter sweat.gif

Now V-brake mix china brand are cheap but I not sure how good it is because no chance to try it. Mix china brand alloy brake lever cable model also very cheap.

Your current brake level is shimano tourney / sis  example ST-EF500? If yes there seem got mini adjustment to swap either C brake or V brake setting. You can try both if still can not meet your requirement then can just change brake lever.

If you want to buy original whole set shimano brake + shimano shifter then become costly.

Currently a lot shimano low end entry component are counterfeit especially tourney / sis and tons of altus 3x7 3x8 speeds shifter are fake selling around with extremely low price like RM2x per pair.

Another suggestion is you can just buy alloy china brake lever and V brake but for shifter you can buy shimano from rodalink.
*

my brake lever is very old type, Much older than tourney you mentioned. This bike is my childhood bike, it goes all the way back in early 2000. The shifter is working perfectly I really dont want to change it. Easiest option is to replace a cheap Canti brake.

but it is so difficult to find canti brakes, not even China cheap brand make them. Thats why I ask here.

thanks for the picture. But my very old brake lever have no adjustment, it only has V position mode. Model I think is ST-EF25

Buy Shimano BR-T610 V-Brake better and cheaper a lot. LOL
*

haiz, no choice, I think have to find time to ask my bicycle technician friend properly regard using V brake with Canti brake lever. If put in, as long can apply some braking power, I will just cincai buy the RM10-20 China make V brake and be done with it. That old bike is use for slow casual Bangla ride lock everywhere type.

If I wanna serious exercise I got newer XT groupset XC hardtail for that, so no need serious braking power for old bike. biggrin.gif

can name a few shop in klang valley that selling this spec at this price?

is the fork lockable?
*

If you dont mind china/local brand can top up abit to RM1.1K-1.2K for much better spec.

try find Crossmac PSD6 or TRS hottest

Crossmac PSD6 (3x11 speed), body frame a bit small if you taller than 165cm
https://bicyclebuysell.com/item/520010/cros...27-5er-33-speed

TRS hottest (2x10 speed)
this link below posted 4 months ago, not sure got stock or not left.

as long below budget rm800

saw microshift brand for gear ?

is it good ?

i only know shimano

no shimeng or shimona gear pls sweat.gif
*

microshift is a good Taiwanese brand, the gear groupset should be fine.

But still if budget is limited I still think you top up pick that PSD6 bike if you can find one. TRS hottest also decent, i think the gear itself already half the price of the TRS bike haha.

btw,
TRS is actually local brand.
XDS/Crossmac is China brand.

Dont really need Raleigh brand at these budget.

I am not talking about the shifter but overall whole thing. I am surprise he wanted tourney over a 11 speed microshift.

Seems like price is up already lol.1-2 months ago is like RM6299.

Anyway. T8 is using Fox sus + 4 piston brakes + SLX gear (this not matter to me). I wonder is worth the top up or not.

D7 or T7

Hmmmmm....

D7 has slightly better components.
Lighter by 1kg
Shorter travel
D7 is about rm2000 cheaper.

Trail Vs enduro

Cannot decide

I believe the rm6299  was the previous.
*

lol no, how do you come to conclusion D7 has better components?

D7 has 11 speed 5100 Deore, not 12 speed 6100. (means the cassette highest sprocket is 11t not 10t)
D7 has M200 budget brake.
