Hi thanks, in your opinion is this bike much more worth compared to the rm1k cheaper D7???
*

D7 is 11 speed, T7 is 12 speed.

T7 highest rear gear sprocket is 10Tooth, D7 is the old standard 11T.

but thats not the biggest diff.

T7 is 130-140mm suspension travel. D7 is 120mm. IMO it is worth going to 140mm if you riding offroad.

Biggest drawback of D7 is the brake. D7 brake is entry level hydraulic. This kind of brake can be found in any less than RM2K MTB.

IMO, brake is most important, cannot brake on time, lost balance = brake bone, ligament.

I just hurt my ligament, 2 weeks already still OKU mode. I lost balance fall 1 side. Haih...I think need 1-2 months only can ride again

Also, NX is the entry level groupset from SRAM. SRAM has the even cheaper OEM-only SX but not sure if you can buy that separately. Deore is the same level as NX. At this range, they are the heaviest and feels the most "unrefined". They work fine really, but it's not as buttery smooth and nice as the more expensive ones.

SLX is supposed to one level higher than the Deore, so it will probably be a bit lighter. You may or may not feel the difference compared to the Deore. The SRAM equivalent at this level would probably be the GX.
*

IMO, Deore is actually better than NX.

Polygon D7 (USD 1599) and Polygon N9 (USD 2999)

entry level full suspension vs mid range suspension.

LOL the so call mid range FS cost RM10k++ in Malaysia.

First time Polygon bike review in GMBN.
*

Ok lah, if you look at their bike pricing, after convert, Malaysia polygon still much cheaper. Not like computer parts here...dollar to MYR convert still need to add $$$ haih

Polygon in US pricing..

D5 - 1049 USD
D7 - 1599 USD
T7 - 1799 USD
T8 - 2299 USD
N9 - 2999 USD

My first time heard about the XDS brand in Malaysia around 2009 ~ 2010. Got people bring in their bike selling in here. Rm7xx~Rm9xx already got full alloy hard tail. Rm12xx already got alloy full suspension model.

Until today this brand still survive because quantity they selling out are huge in china. Some more they majority do OEM business. Some of their model just paste the XDS sticker but exactly same like those famous brand one.

Wonder why you want to purposely seek for this brand?
*

some of their series have some serious specs, everything good except well.... the body if you question their brand quality.

last year only, got shop sell new bike with spec like these for less than RM2400, 27.5 wheel, Manitou fork some more, whole bike 11.5kg

the hell, 40t x14t on 26 wheel is like

36t 15t on 29 inch, this shouldnt be hard to pedal

infact I find that even my 38t 11t MTB is too easy on gear at flat ground.

I think the issue he's having is going up slopes. He's flat is ok.
*

I took a closer look, looks like as other said, the seatpost is too low

unless he height is <150cm

The whole industry has moved to 1x now. 2x/3x groupsets is almost obsolete. Even the XC bikes are all 1x. Because of the big 50t/52t cassette, range is not a problem anymore even for flats. Just need to get a bigger/smaller chainring to suit your usage. Makes it a lot easier for beginners to learn how to shift as well since there is only one shifter to deal with.
*

still cannot reach 2x range.

While i agree 3x is excessive, but i still think 2x is pretty good. Just 1 shift from FD I can change my bike setup from "climb mode" to "fast mode". I dont think I will give up that quick shift until Shimano can shift 4 gears down in 1 shift, so far XT shifter still limit to down by 2 gears per shift. (upshift can do 4 but down is still 2)

I don't XC trails with ride high speed flats or road so I can be biased. I really feel 2x is not necessary for trail riding. No need for the extra weight and checking whether you are in the right gear or not. Just one shifter to think about if you need to climb, ride on flat or point down. If it suits you and your regular trails then of course no issues la.

I'm a SRAM guy now. Prefer the satisfying shifting feel of SRAM. Shimano just feels so dead to me. Wait till you try AXS though. Brings you to another new world of how you feel towards gears and shifting.  brows.gif
*

correct, diff people got diff need.

I ride flat quite often on my XC hardtail as much as off road, so my need in gears range quite huge. imo, even 38Tx11t I still dont think it is enough.

Have you try 38Tx11T ?
Im waiting for my 38T chainring to arrrived.
Right now Im on 32oval and its definitely not enough when on road. Speed 28kmph leg spin like crazy already. sweat.gif
I hope the 38T can make me cruise atleast 30kmph average is enough for me.
*

my bike is 28-38t & 11-42t

38t definitely can do 30km/h but still spin more than you like.

Currently i'm using Giant Talon 2 (gift from someone).
It's 8 speed causing my leg mau patah during uphill. But cant complain since its free.

Planning to upgrade to SLX 12 speed. Is it good enough?
What component do i need though?
*

why pay extra for SLX?

normal Deore M6100,M5100 is good enough, unless you are going for 2x12

like other said for 8 speed(I assume is 3x8 speed), I dont think is gear problem. it is either you bike way too heavy or you fitness or your saddle height.

actually after discount price is RM24x.

Last time I bought 1 pair SL M590 + RD M592 + FD M590 4pcs set less than RM230 but now cut cost until 2 pieces price is more higher. LOL
*

dont forget that darn pizza size cassette. Pizza size cassette price isnt the same price as those 32-36t cassette.

And the new 12s chain price.

I found no issue for those mid range group set. May be you aim for top tier or top second tier group set. First MCO no jack up yet, but very significant price raise for mid of 2021 eg. Polygon N9, raise almost RM2k.
*

still go up a lot in Q3-Q4 2020.

best price is after MCO 1.0 opening, many bike shop want cash flow sell cheap before they know bike fever kicks in. Around that time, one of my friend got a NEW teal color Polygon Strada 8 at RM2800 only, XT SGS RD & ori XT 11s 11-46 cassettle, SLX SL those spec.
