For me im ok with that, cause not heavy user on mobile data.

Most of the time with wifi. so 3mbps or what for me nothing much different.

On my working area the stupid sialkom line 4g+ by paying hundred bucks also not stable only run within the range 500kbps - 5 mbps only which i already complaint hundred times. 

Cant feel much different on that. 

Yes, both my digi lines have free RM5.00 rewards credit.

And also offered RM28 for 7GB, unlimited calls and free 1GB(1pm - 7pm) in their BoS

if so then what are the main benefits of this merger to the consumer? will the two networks merge but with different plans under the respective telcos? or is it mainly for backbone/infrastructure sharing?

from what I understand...

it's mainly for sharing of assets, infrastructure & spread the deployment of 5G cost   
good for financial perspective

There is no minimum or maximum spend. Sometime even prepaid number that is not so active also have BoS. It is totally random act of kindness from Digi towards your number. If you think you get a prepaid and spend x amount just to hope for BoS, you will be disappointed.
