Any possibility of upgrading your brakes and reduce braking distance is a positive mod for sure. However, as to the necessity of it, in many cases it's mostly always for personal glory and topic amongst car enthusiast .
Typically, the following are done for gradual improvement after good tires. Pads, then brake hoses, then rotors. For normal street cars, they are usually sufficient. Had a DBA rotors with uprated brakes on my 2003 Toyota Vios 1.5, and they made a lot of difference in braking distance, even for my Sepang track days then. 4 pot BBK is overkill for street use for my Vios as I don't race with others nor do I drive dangerously which requires constant hard braking. If on the street, you constantly need to slam on the brakes, then it isn't the brakes, it's your driving.
I upgraded my previous FD2R stock brembo 4 pots to Js Racing 6 pot for track days. Improve my lap times as I could brake later going into turns. For my 2015 WRX STI, the stock brembos melted and faded after 3 laps at Sepang and almost slammed into barriers. All I did this time, was changed the rotors to DBA slotted rotors and DBA pads. Next track day, even with 8 laps also no brake fade.
So, given my own personal experiences and upgrades, really really ask yourself, do you really NEED or WANT it? Need it and want it, lain tau
But money is yours. An upgrade is always good. Just remember to have good tires to go along with it, otherwise, your money spent on brakes won't be well spent.
