Unless the rules changed, the last I heard was:

To buy property in SG, one must either be a PR or foreigners above the age of 35.

The rules in SG is more relaxed. Not like in M'sia, must receive approval from FIC & must be properties valued at above RM250k (the latter recently ammended).

Not all property in Singapore is for sale to foreigner. HDB flats are reserved for citizen and PR. You can only buy condos. At the moment, they are having a property boom and prices are already too high to buy.

HDB flats requires 2 join PR names if you are a PR. Non sellable to foreigners.
But private properties...not sure; have to ask my friend to clarify.

For HDB flats, priority is also given to married couple.

That's why, few years back, there's a saying that the new method of relationship: get married 1st, buy HDB flat, only then start to learn about ur other half.

If in the end, the marriage fails. Sell the property & split the profit.

Profit should be enough for the downpayment of the next purchase. tongue.gif

to buy a HDB flat, you must be a couple with both have PR status. Otherwise, i think can buy private condo or apartment only. Landed only for Citizen, or if you have dunno how many million SGD.
Can check the property price in:

PRs face restrictions in buying landed properties in Singapore and need prior approval from the authorities before they can purchase such properties.

Applicant's PR status, sanction to buy landed property depends on his qualifications and economic contributions to Singapore

Foreigners can buy private properties in Singapore.
HDB is not considered private properties.

If you are working in singapore, you can use your monthly CPF (like malaysia's EPF) to pay for mortgage, not enough, then top up cash.

This one of the reason why Properties is highly priced.

The mortgage interest rate for private properties is around 4-5%, as compared to Malaysia's 7%. For HDB, it is 2.6% if you borrow from the government (Your CPF Account).
