i got an offer from a car dealer, a reconditioned Lexus IS250 L spec (i supposed L means Luxury) with about 30k+ km on the odometer for the price of RM155,000.00.

my first time considering a reconditioned car so need all the sifus advice.

is it advisable to get a reconditioned car this old, i mean although the condition of the car (interior and exterior wise) is close to pristine but yet, 7 years is a long time.

If unregistered, please ask where the car from and check their history. If from Japan can easily use Scrut to confirm. A lot of cars ODO meter mostly altered when come into Malaysia as no law against it.

nowadays ppl go scrut to check the car condition etc. if the car is in the correct auction house you will get the car report (you have to pay) before it goes to auction in the origin country. check it out.

if 2nd-hand local market, then very suspicious..

but you bought the car new - it's like marrying a virgin wife and stayed loyal to her until the end of days.

i for instance, is like marrying a divorcee who has a possibility of lying to me about her sexual relationship history sad.gif

Market value of the same, 2nd hand, is only RM110k.

Means the minute u register the car, u instantly lose RM25k.

And if not mistaken, the AP for parallel import is limited to cars less than 5 yo. So this unit must be sitting in M'sia for min 2 yrs d.

oh ohmy.gif

can you share with me where did you get the market value for the same car - perhaps i'll negotiate with the dealer based on that otherwise i really think he will kick me out of his lot for counter offering him at RM135k when his original sticker price was at RM164k
