Man, that unlocking feature with Apple Watch should have come earlier. It's so convenient.

Basically as long as you're wearing your watch and within range of your iPhone, anyone that wears a mask can unlock your phone. If that happens, the prompt on your watch will allow you to lock it back using the watch.

Using an iPhone 11 with 14.5, no abnormal battery drain so far.

Probably update to 14.5.1 now and see if it helps.

too late as I went to 14.6 beta earlier (can't stand the battery drain wtih 14.5)

but still draining although it's much lesser compared to before ..
