I am using Unifi since year 2016, so far is quite satisfy for their internet service.
I have no idea why there still got many people complaint about TM.

Taking care you home router just like taking care your own car.
You need to learn knowledge about how to do maintenance of your home networking. Same theory just for example like you bought a new car, you need to send to service center to change engine oil, after 10,000, not just change engine oil, you need to rotate tyre, do alignment, after 100,000 you need to change radiator coolant, brake pads, brake shoes and new tyres. This is what I like to say, you need to learn about the new knowledge for how to maintain your home networking.

Once you apply an internet plan, TM just provide you Unifi for internet access. They say got free router, free dect phone, free unifi tvbox bla bla bla. That's just their free items, actually they do not have the ability to incharge your home networking. TM just did their own part on providing internet access to bring internet into your house. For the rest, router part, mesh devices, cat6 cable home networking wiring, that's all are not incharge by TM. So you need to start to learn how to maintain your router in good condition, such like upgrade router, buy more mesh devices to increase coverage, pull cat6 cable from downstairs to upstairs. That's all you need to do by yourself, you need to learn all these kind of knowledge just like you buy a new car to learn how to maintain your new car well.

I was upgraded my Unifi router to Asus routers, both main router and aimesh node, also with an extra old gigabit Asus router as access point. I'm quite satisfy for my home Unifi speed. Really fast on download, totally no complaint at all. Last year my home have renovation on installing glasses at my house garage, the working accidentally broke my Unifi black fiber cable. I call 100 during the afternoon, the TM technician immediately call me back later at the evening in same day. Next day, the technicians came to fix the cable then straight get back my Unifi online. Service also not bad, also rarely got downtime. Mostly the service disruptions are during midnight, not much affect me to use internet. Sometimes I keep receive SMS from TM and being told that my area has service disruption but I did not find any issue on that and my home Unifi still online for 24/7 with fast internet access.

Sometimes, I only face the issue of Sabah and Sarawak Unifi users (I am living in Kota Kinabalu) cant visit to certain websites and ddns not working. Mostly is caused by the cut down of submarine cable due to some contractor accidentally broke the fiber cable during the workers use their excavator to dig something.

So far, for 4 years of using, I'm quite satisfy on Unifi. Line is fast and stable (of course only for Asus router) and never break down. Watch youtube straight 1080p and 4K, download a 100GB game from steam and epic store within half hour. Very fast internet speed and sometimes can get 60MB/s, upload video to youtube and facebook also fast just within few seconds.

QUOTE(azrilyp @ Sep 22 2020, 12:16 PM)
I was a long time Unifi subscriber like u are but early this year I switched to Maxis Fiber. Its because that the cylinder shape router keep having issues and restarting and I've tried asking TM to replace it but not given. Then the cordless phone (provided by Unifi) kaput after 4-5 years and again I've tried to get Unifi to change but the answer is no. I even offered to sign a new contract since my account has been in service for more than 2 years but Unifi says they won't provide me with a new cordless phone or router even if I signed a new contract so I'm still stuck with old hardware.

Thus I made the switch to Maxis Fiber. So far so good and new hardware provided.

Ironically last week, a Unifi person called me and asked the reason why I switched and I told him the same thing.

Soon later, your Maxis new hardware will also getting old. After 3-4 years, you will begin to complaint to Maxis then switch to Unifi and get new router again. That's is why we say that the ISP actually just provide you internet connection, their job is bring internet into your home. They offer their plan with free modem, free router, free tvbox etc. but they are not responsible to take care of these free items. That's why we need to manage and do maintenance by ourselves. Just same theory like you drive a car, you must replace new tyres, new brake pads, new engine oil, new coolant in one day later. You won't keep drive your car until engine become overheat, tyres all botak and brake become noisy you still don't do any maintenance of them.

TM has no authority to take care everything of your router, your mesh devices, even a piece of LAN cable. You need to keep maintain the good condition, either you upgrade yourself or call some expert CCTV technicians come to your house to check for home networking upgrading and wiring. Knowledge is much more important, you must learn to how to login your router and learn how to get your pppoe ID and password. You have to invest some money to upgrade to better router and learn how to do settings on the higher end router.

There has no free lunch in this world, TM just provide you internet service but not provide you a lifetime warranty for the router, dect phone, tvbox etc. There have T&C and stated very clearly, TM only provide lifetime warranty for the BTU device (Unifi modem) but not for your router. Dect phone peel off then go to shopee buy new one, TM won't replace to you for free because already stated in T&C. Not expensive also, just RM83 only https://shopee.com.my/Alcatel-E132-Digital-...2217.3333852474.
