What modem/router does Umobile supply to Allo network?

Heard that Umobile international connectivity goes through its sister company StarHub in Singapore.

i get about 5-10 times per day depending on ALLO mood.

I find it only happens on 500mbps package. Didn't face this kind of problem on my 50mbps package at my other area.

It's different for Astro BB/Celcom/DiGi/Maxis & Umobile Fibre on Allo wholesale network.

Yours on City Broadband ISP correct? They all don't share same international connection and access servers.

Are you City Broadband staff trialing new equipment and setups for business plans?

If you're adventurous can even turn your own desktop PC into a Super Router!

Definitely Allo problem.. You may test download using VPN. My unifi 800 still can pull 300Mbps from Epic.

Without VPN

With Surfshark VPN

If the connection to SG is affected, most VPN SG servers will also not help much because the link to SG is choking.

That is what happens when you use cheap ISP, they don't have money to expand their international bandwidth and uptream. SG is the closest major gateway Malaysia can get with most VPN servers. If even SG connectivity is slow then the ISP is hopelessly unusable.

honestly, i don't think call Allo SC will help....perhaps they don't even understand the issue.... sad.gif

Actually if Allo open network is available at your place, your choices aren't restricted to only City Broadband.

You can choose Celcom, DiGi, Maxis or even Umobile Home Fibre network.

All of them offer better deal than those on TM Unifi mobile network. Your speed test will always be slightly more than your package speed because they don't do buffer bloat.

Hi Guys,

My area only have Allo Infra here, do you guys recommend me to apply for allo city broadband or Maxis Broadband? Since Maxis ride on allo?
Considering the routing issue for allo that i read from this forum, is Maxis also same?

You can pick between Celcom, Maxis, DiGi, Umobile, ASTRO or City Broadband Home Fibre plans within Allo coverage. Lots of choices and they offer symmetrical plans.

Those are national backhaul lines running to Time's Perak exchange site at Jelapang nearby Silibin area.

RM69 for 100M is just right.

Allo made the right move.

Also with upcoming 5G unlimited plans at RM68/RM79, I predict many will start cancelling their fixed line fibre plans if nothing is done to improve their pricing.

RM68 Telco U plan can achieve average 300M-500M, still want to pay RM88/99 or more than RM150 to get a 300M fibre plan?

Fixed fibre will not be laku anymore if nothing is done to make it attractive. It's main selling point is stability and consistency but 5G is almost as good now and will see fierce competition when 5.5G/5G+ is introduced which will introduced gigabit plans with fibre like latency.

Best thing is no need physical installation visit and bring home the modem can start using already. Can also carry around to other major cities or urban areas if your job requires frequent travelling.

Where to get unlimited 5G WITHOUT FUP at below RM100?

1TB is a lot for most people out there.

I hardly breach even 150GB every month with my 30mbps home fibre at home.

80% of my time on workdays are out at work.

So, not unlimited then. Got it.

I know my monthly usage pattern well after using my home fibre line for over 5 years.

If there's a 5G provider who can sustain over 100Mbps of speed even with weak 1-2bars of signal strength and priced at RM70-RM80, I'll not think twice opting for it because my 30M fibre plan is costing me RM105 per month which I don't even get to use much of it with most workdays out of home.

In Japan and many countries fixed 5G plans are now the trend, fibre plans are so yesterday.

There are no way to predict and avoid congestion with wireless plan.
Because 5G is new now, plus there is a "entry fees" (+RM10 or 20~, or subscribe more expensive plan to turn on 5G addon), so 5G is low adoption now we cannot conclude its real performance.
Don't forget Malaysia is not using 5G mmWave, so it is actually mean 4G+ imo.

Other reasons like public IP, stability, torrenting... are the main factors that peoples give up wireless solution.
*
5G was designed to overcome wireless congestion unlike 4G.

It includes many additional security features, beamforming, resource allocation/network virtual slicing, etc. which makes it very much more efficient that it used to be with 4G.

DNB once guaranteed that even with the weakest signal of just 1-bar strength, 5G can still perform >100mbps on downloads.

Guess that makes sense when Malaysia doesn't even want to buff up our hardline connection with decent packages and prices mad.gif

They are doing it on purpose because they still think weak Malaysian consumers can be squeeze dry to enrich the corrupted.

I don't really prioritize internet these days. It's full of nonsense and garbage content other than for entertainment purposes. For work and all since MCO has been over a long time, all my work has been on company's internet line. Never needed to bring work back home for worklife balance.

Allo actually made the wrong move last time to expand in B40 areas where spending power is very little and targetted only certain poor segments of the market.

In Ipoh, their buildout mainly focused in areas such as Tg. Rambutan/Bercham, Lahat/Menglembu, Sg Rokam/Gunung Rapat, Batu Gajah areas.
Areas which Unifi refused to expand into previously because of poor demand.

You don't see them aggressively expanding anymore now.

That's is why they had to come out with very cheap plans such as Gelombang Ungu to get the attention of those within their coverage areas.

TIME on other hand went for the wealthier suburbs in Ipoh such as First Garden/partial Menglembu(previously Allo areas bought out), Canning Garden, and Ipoh Garden East/South areas.

Maxis concentrated in CBD areas such as Greentown Business Centre, Station 18 Commercial area, Tasek Industrial Park, Menglembu township.

Both TIME and Maxis NGBB networks are now among Malaysia's most advanced supporting 10G XGS-PON ready.

The only areas left untapped potential is Ipoh City centre and Jln. Pasir Putih which is only left with old TM infra without alternatives.

Hopefully next year the government will approve a new infra sharing plan to allow other operators to set up their cables and run them on existing TM poles for their own fibre infra.
