Do some research before you proceed buying one

I've seen lots of people buying RM100 ~ RM300 routers thinking it would solve their issue
Later, they blame the brand instead of themselves for not doing proper research whistling.gif
*
You think most of the issues are caused by ISP side?

When did I say that?
All I said is you should never rely on ISP-provided routers

No ISP in the world provides good routers for free. Time Fiber once offered ASUS routers but that still comes with an additional fee. Not for free
*
My bad.
It's true ISP provided routers are tad on the low end.
The supplied CALIX router wifi range is not very good.

I decided to bite the bullet and subscribe to CityBB via their website. 24 months contract for 300Mbps.

A few minutes back I tried to access their main page and it's showing expired cert:

Can't wait to see what other adventures I'm gonna have with them.

RM116/monthly(tax included) for 24 months.
CITYBB promo until end of this month.
Waiting for them to come over on Friday to install it.

tmnut comes with a android box for their unifi tv service. does citybb have anything like that? there's even a dedicated iptv vlan that uses a separate broadband to fuel that (so it doesn't take away from your internet package speed).
*
I checked Unifi site and the box only comes if you take they combined package. It's RM212 monthly at 300Mbps for 24months.

The promo is valid until December 31st, so until this year end, new subscribers are eligible to get the 100Mbps plan at RM89 with a 24 months contract, after 24 months will revert to actual price which is RM99.

You can read more about this promo from the website faq, https://www.citybroadband.my/support/faqs/f...peed-promotion/  smile.gif

Yes, this.

I'm guessing the upload speed should be 300Mbps as well.

actually didn't the former minister gobindh want higher speeds at these prices? so i wonder what the new minister's stance is on this  hmm.gif
I think it's very unlikely he will tackle fibre speeds.
Current issue is with 5G and 4G coverage for data.

EDIT:
Government Launches 30GB Pakej Perpaduan Telco Prepaid Plan

That was fast

Things I'd like to see improved on fibre side is not speed but the reliability. Right now Allo is looking like the worst ISP in terms of support.

"Subscriptions to the Rahmah Package will come without data limits and are subject to a 24-month contract. The plan is also not time-limited and will be offered in perpetuity."

So that means those who take it can pay rm69(no tax) even after the 24 months period.

Yes, I just applied for the RM139@1Gbps few days ago. Had the on-site technician to help me setup everything. So far so good. No complains about the service..Just noticed that having slow internet when browsing international sites ..Apparently its not just citybroadband, other ISPs been experiencing the same thing for the past few weeks. Anyone here experience this same issue as well?

Are you able to max out your download to 1Gbps on gaming clients like STEAM, EPIC STORE, EA APP, etc. ?

Second Incident:
Fast forward to June 2024, I made a payment on the Allo website. The funds were taken from my bank account, but the Razer Payment System crashed, and I didn't get a confirmation email. I had to follow up with their technical support again, and this time it took them 21 working days to fix it.

It's really concerning to see these issues keep happening, especially with such a long resolution time for the second incident. I hope Allo can get their payment system sorted out soon.
*
I'd be pissed if that happened to me. 21 days is way too long. For that long, they should be compensating something for you.
Personally never used their app to make payment, always used JOMPAY. I still use the app/selfcare portal to generate the bills and retrieve the payment receipt though.

Lately I noticed the connection resets at least 2 or 3 times in a week between 9:45pm and 10:15pm. Been having 2nd thoughts of continuing the service with them come November. Thinking of downgrading to TIME 200Mbps.

No, I didn’t forward to mcmc, it took almost 3 days for them to bring up the service….i will change to other option once my contract ended….i have a very bad experience with allo, it went down almost every month!
*
I agree. Recently I noticed the service would go down during mybworking hours 2 or 3 times in a day. Sometimes, it's ablevto recover within 10 minutes. Other times I'm forced to reboot the modem.

Anyone at Cyberjaya, Cyber 10 area affected? Been down for close to 10 minutes.

EDIT: back up now. Forced to reboot my modem. Seems there's always an outage at 1pm, 4pm or 10pm on certain days of the week.
Quite annoying.

To be honest, I dont think anyone near my area is actually using Allo
