This is one of the earliest boomer fake news from America, already debunked many times but still many believe it.

According to science, MSG or umami is the fifth taste that human tongue can tastes, discovered by Japanese chemist, it is also a natural protein that human body makes, it helps combine and bring out flavor of food, makes them taste more savory and give you a full sensation after eat, control overeating.

So many good things about MSG, yet people still believe the ancient boomer fake news.

Japanese eat them so long, the world eat ajinomoto so long, people healthy no side effects.

Salt and sugar worse, should replace them with MSG instead.

because in chinese takeaway food it's a MSG+SALT loaded combo bomb
but since angmoh cant cook/eat without salt....they conveniently shift the blame to MSG

If you use MSG, can lower the amount of salt used because it's tastier.

Those food without msg have to be salty to make it tasty

Anything in moderation is good la

The problem is, have you tried cooking meals yourself at home?

Ever had the thought crossed in yo mind "eh, apsal x sedap ni", and then it hits you, it lacks salt and msg

So you putted more salt and msg, and then boom!
Sedap mcm dlm restoran wei

Then you realize how much ridiculous amount of salt and msg needed to get restaurant taste, or even good pastries, kuih etc

You wanna telan that much msg every meal?

Usually, those experts that agree on MSG is bad say it's bad because of the glutamic part not because of the sodium...Sodium is good until you overconsume it. Though, even if you overconsume sodium, as long as your potassium intake is enough, it's not a concern as the potassium will eliminate sodium.

Salt is amazing.

It doesn't make food salty,it brings out the flavor.

As for msg, Japanese live long lives so dont worry about it

No difference when you add salt to your food. I saw Japanese YouTubers also using it to marinate and flavouring their sauce.
Plus Alton Brown himself saying there's no harm using it just to get that "umami" taste that Western people so obsessed about when it comes to Japanese food. But in the end he said it's pointless when you can just season using salt and sugar.

there is a pump in the brain that actively pump out the glutamate, so it will not cross the blood brain barrier. So MSG consumption does not really matter dude

Tried and tested for 1 whole year, no one ever complained/mentioned/thought my food has MSG when I was doing some Chinese takeaway thingy sometime back.
Not even those close friends, that is yeye 'I can't touch a single grain of MSG, my brain will burst'

I even asked, where is your headache and coughing and thirsty-ness?

I used MSG + soy sauce + fish sauce. No salt in my kitchen.

Yeah exactly, it's the glutamic part that makes it a neurotoxin or neurotransmitter to be exact.

why people treat MSG as something cancer-causing kind of thing?

i just treat it same like salt, sugar, pepper. just add a bit to enhance the flavor la.

macam you guys drink bubbles milk tea very healthy because it contains milk, sendiri tipu sendiri.

if sodium salt is bad, but potassium salt is good, then simple solution should be when you want to add salt, just add sodium salt and potassium salt equally so that the food is still salty but potassium will cancel out the bad effect of sodium. with this approach, the food can be as tasty as it needs be, correct or not?
