Hi, I'm currently planning to go for SA keycap but I'm wondering whether SA keycap is good for gaming or not? I just love the way SA looks. tongue.gif

Thank in advance as always.

Looks like I need to mod Glorious GOAT stabs. Sometime the space bar will be stuck due to subpar factory lubed. Maybe will try GOAT housing with Everglide stems.

yeah most stock stabs are underperformed. you should always tune them when they are easy to access.

as for swapping the sliders to everglide's, it's better to try tuning the original ones first imo. (unless they are really beyond rescues)

Will definitely do that but first I gotta buy Dielectric Grease and 205g0. I'm new to the hobby. Kinda scare I mess it up even more. LOL

don't worry about it. most mods for stabilizers are reversible, so it's ok to screw things up. if something go wrong, just clean them up, then redo.

as for those that are irreversible, like clipping mod for sliders, they are simple so it's not that easy to fail. in your case, you might not need it. afaik stems of stock goat stabilizers are designed without those 'legs'.

Thanks for the encouragement. notworthy.gif

I actually did holee mod on my previous keyboard but without wiping the grease off. brows.gif

BTW... the 205g0 sold by Keys.my okay? Planning to get it from them.

I actually just did the holee mod for fun and also consider it as a practice. Did it on Womier K87 with provided stabs. I'm not using the keyboard anymore.

I'm happy with GMMK Pro and Aqua King switch (factory lubed). It produce a thocky sound which I like alot. Just need to re-lubed the GOAT stabs. GOAT stabs really named correctly as it mmeeehhhh. rclxs0.gif

I think I'll stick to the basic 205g0 lube first as I'm new. Just gonna apply it on stabs. Lazy wanna lube the switch. whistling.gif

yeah just do what you see fit.

right, you can start with 205g0. it will be your reference when you compare other lube options.

note that for aqua king, clean them up first with IPA, then apply thin layer of 205g0
, in case you decided to lube them. if it's thick, it will make that switch 'draggy' during key travels, and it will take a longer time for this feel to go away.
*
Ya.. will definitely do that if I want to lube my switches. As for now... don't think I'll be doing it as I came from Gateron Brown and factory lubed Aqua Kings already feel and sound much better.

Surprisingly, Aqua King really has little stem wobble. Reckon it will be my main switch for very a long time.

Can't wait for my MT3 keycaps and hopefully it will give a deeper thock. Will be getting GMK laser from Drop next year. Damn, keycaps are expensive as hell. LOL

yeah it's just a heads-up only if you wanted to do it.

aqua king is indeed a better option if you looked for linear switches with minimal stem wobbles.

in general, 'you get what you pay for' is always valid, if you considered everything involved as a whole. custom key cap sets, like those from gmk/jtk/epbt, are expensive because of their limited availability, original and unique designs, layout supports, printing technology, and overall controls of qualities for such sets. all these need time and efforts from different parties to achieve best possible outcomes. in the case of gmk, they do have relatively affordable options that are outside of most of such limits, e.g., gmk wob, which they deliver mainly qualities in manufacturing.

then again, there are good alternatives if you're not picky. there are subjective base lines that you can draw among key cap sets in the market, to find out which sets are acceptable to you. it's a give-and-take, so it's really up to you to decide, based on budget, first-hand experience, and preferences.

I actually wanted to own at least 1 GMK. Had my eyes on GMK Laser because it is still available to purchase at Drop. Dang, I join the mechanical keyboard late... else I will be able to get GMK Mecha 01.
It is really gorgeous. cry.gif

I have this feeling as well. Spent too much in a month, need to take a breather before I start spending on GMK keycaps. Gonna wait for the next sales on Drop.

I should have gotten GMK Laser instead of MT3 but buy 2 for the price of 1 is an offer I can't refuse. icon_rolleyes.gif

Bought a pack of KBDfans switch pad & stabs foam sticker.

Not sure if the switch pad will make my keyboard sound more thocky. brows.gif

BTW... can I use WD 40 Specialist Contact Cleaner to wipe of the excessive lube on PCB?

edit*
Not gonna use WD 40 Specialist Contact Cleaner as it is bad on polycarbonate.

IPA 70% or 99% is better for PCB cleaning?

Thanks for the info. Already made my purchased.
Can't wait to mod the sticky padding on GMMK Pro.

Yeap definitely gonna apply few switch pads and test it out.

And I just received my custom coil cable from cable mode. Sadly, I'm still waiting for my keycaps to arrive.

i really envy your passion and patience. however, not sure what happened, but 3 years is too long. we have gone through many kits within that time period, which means manufacturing of a kit was, and is not an issue.

i stopped getting stuff that needs ridiculous waiting time.
*
2 to 3 years wait time is kinda long.
Anyone getting QK65?

to me, yes. i really don't have such patience. there were many times i forgot what i ordered, then they came, but i don't feel excited anymore.

I just like the colours of GMK Mecha 01 as I'm a Gundam/Figurine collector previously.

Paying RM500 is better than getting 2nd hand as the price for 2nd hand is over RM1k

How does Oil King compare to Aqua King in terms of stem wobble? Planing to use Oil King on Mammoth 75.

there are different levels of overall build qualities among these prebuilts. most of the times, you get what you pay for.

it's good that your brother pass it to you, so that you can experience first-hand how crappy a prebuilt can be.
aqua king v3 has the least stem wobbles. no switch can challenge that afaik. however, stem wobbles should not be the sole consideration for a switch imo.

aqua king v3 has a full pc-based slider/stem and housing. it produces different sound and feel, compared to oil king that has pom-based slider, nylon switch top, and bottom housing that is originally made for gateron ink.

Haha.. really wanted to try Oil King. Guess I'll just pull the trigger next month. Gonna use it stock. Lazy and no time to mod. sweat.gif
