need help from keychron users. do you guys need wrist rest for k2v2 or k4v2?

bought 3x boxes of glorious panda on a whim, but no keyboard yet lol

I previously used one for my K2 - its too high causing my wrist to bend.

If you don't mind low profile keyboards, the K3 seems like a decent compact keyboard.

Hi,

I broke my coiled braided keyboard cable, was trying to reassemble the cable and pulled out the wrong sockets - does anyone know where and how I get another cable? Its the end with USB A.

If this one is really a goner, there goes a hundred bucks 🥲

maybe you can cut the end off, take a picture on which wire goes where, and repair it?

you can ask at mymkb fb group to see if sifus who make cables can help out also
*
Thanks, have already tried cutting the wires but seems like need a wire-cutter tool, will ask around in the FB group.

Kinda disappointed with their marketing on the rotary encoder on the q1. Supposed to be an add on and such a big deal was made out of it. Now, seems like in order to add the encoder, it has to be a different board.

Yeah pretty bummed about this too - not very transparent about this from the get go.

nice smile.gif

right. these days, the options available to us are more friendly for customization than ever. they also come with parts that are optional for a build, but are ready if you wanted to include them.

with such convenience, it's really a waste if you don't experiment with different configurations.

Yup totally, experimenting with different switches and caps is gonna be fun.

Defo will be a time-consuming / expensive hobby, down the rabbit hole we go laugh.gif

Sharing some updates of my latest build - my very first DIY mechanical board journey.

Board: Keychron Q1 Silver
Switches: AKKO Matcha Greens
Caps: GMK Pulse Mitolet
Stabs: Stock (Re-lubbed)
Mods: Tape Mods
Lube: Krytox 205g2

Basically been reading / watching reviews on how the Q1 perform in it's stock form and was pleased that the board exceeded my expectations. As a Mac user, I am only limited to boards that supports MacOS and Keychron was originally made Mac-compatible hence the reason to go for the Q1 - previously owned the K2 and K8 but these boards did not meet my expectations. The board is heavy, really heavy - to the expend that it left a mark on my leather desk pad sweat.gif

Was a little disappointed that the board did not provide and keycaps or switch pullers - I don't have any on hand thus had to resort to using plastic tools to remove them, took longer than expected. The board was different from the ones I saw on YouTube and review units. The PCB change a bit, especially the cables from the daughter board (USB C ports) is no longer a ribbon cable and this version came with 2 foam paddings instead of one, which is a good thing.

The board was still a ping-monster out of the box, its inevitable due to the materials used (CNC Aluminium). Added some tape around the edges of the board to reduce the vibrations, re-lubbed the stabs to make it rattle less and added another 2 layers of masking tape (3M Painters Tape) at the back of the PCB to give it a more fuller sound.

Overall pretty happy with the sound of the keys, feels 'thocky' and fuller - the GMK caps are expensive as hell but they do sound better than the default cheapo-ABS caps that came with the board. I don't plan to stop here, perhaps next week will be trying out the holey-mod on the stabs, not very happy with the outcome of the sound yet - the addiction is real.
