IMHO, come back to want to do mod or not?
the best entry is RK61 i think
or can go for keychron K12

but then again it is up to preference sweat.gif  whistling.gif

For those not looking to mod (and looking for quieter keys to not disturb others in proximity) which would be better, RK61 or K12? Also am actually thinking about RK71 or K6 (arrow keys....), is the only difference between these and the RK61/K12 the layout?

Any comment on build quality/long lasting between tecware and royal kludge for budget wireless keyboards?

not sure about tecware but RK  build is quiet sturdy ... there is option for RK61 with alu casing also
maybe others can commments
*
RK warranty make me worry a bit. All 3 month 3 month only.... summore got prior message in this thread about RK71 some keys stop working after less than a year.

I guess as long as get hotswappable should be able to replace individual switch/key right?

Royal Kludge (60-65% models) users, I would like to ask a fairly specific question:- when programming the keys, are the changes saved on the board or not? Saved on the board meaning if you plug in or BT connect to another machine your changed keys take effect.

Anne Pro 2 I know is able to save the programming on to the board itself. Not sure if RK/Keychron/Tecware do that. Or any other recommendation in the pre-built world which are able to?

how come Keychron keyboards are so much cheaper than other peers?
But i also notice a lot of people are trying to sell theirs away in Carousell.
*
Who are their peers though? Royal Kludge and Tecware boards are cheaper. Anne Pro 2 is about same price as K12. And these are just the brands I've been recommended, if you take the other cheaper brands in shopee (dunno whether really are brands or not) then those are even cheaper.

I wonder - when noobs like me use budget boards (RKG68 for me), then those Akko keycaps look so expensive (more than I paid for the board!). Really considered as budget?

Hi,

I am thinking to get a wireless mech keyboard for my Ipad/macbook air/ windows laptop. The most important feature i need is ability to work around multiple devices

Currently using a 10 years old ducky-9008 brown switch. I am not so particular about keyboard.

Thinking to splurge 200-300 maybe more if needed
Features that I require
Layout 65-75%, arrow key is mandatory, not sure if i can live without function key row
USB-C, seamless profile switching
Hotswap switches if possible, I am thinking to try BLUE switches but not sure if I would hate them.

KB in mind
RK68
Dont mind to buy a starter set and do everything myself if the cost is not too high
*
I'm using a RKG68 now, no regrets. Bluetooth hasn't given me any issues (switching between my laptop and android smartphone). Have not tried the macos keys as no mac devices, but should work. Feel free to ask specific questions about that keyboard if you want.

Lack of function key is not bothering you?
Did you use everything stock or there are things which have been replaced
*
Obviously depends on your usage. For me no, as the only function keys I use fairly regularly are F5 (just to start presentation). If you game then should just remap what you need.

The more annoying thing in terms of keys is Home and End, as I do a lot of typing and that's like some of the simplest ways to get to various ends of the line when not using my normal text editor.

Arrow keys available but... I'm trying to see if can live without those (do some remapping in my OS). Unfortunately RK software only allows remapping of individual keys not layers or anything. So you can change the layout to Dvorak if you want, but you can't map Caps+wasd for arrow keys for example. Long term I do plan to go 60% to save more space. This 65% is very space saving already though, already narrower than my laptop.

Only applicable for making for self, if the motivation is fun. Otherwise the time you spent is probably worth more than your profit for selling.

Morning all, wanna ask the Bluetooth wireless mechanical keyboard....Does it have any delay? Like Royal Kludge or Keychron. For an example, does it switch off/go to sleep and then when i click only it wakes up and connect back to the bluetooth? So there will be like a few seconds delay? I heard that Royal Kludge 2.4G connection is bad and cannot be far away from each other. Is it true?

I don't want wired keyboard cause my PC is placed on a different table than my screen.
*
I use RKG68 on bluetooth. During use no delay, but of course when it go to sleep there is the reconnection lag (a second or so). This is unavoidable with battery based, unless you can find a keyboard using BLE to maintain consistent connection without going to sleep.

This is not an issue for me because I type consistently, but if you're going to be typing sometimes and then leave it a long while and don't want a short time when it needs to wake up and reconnect, highly suggest wired (you can use USB extension for example to cross the tables).

Have you tried it with the 2.4G adapter?
*
Yeah I did. But I prefer to use bluetooth as in my experience the RKG68 bluetooth is reliable and doesn't give me issue. So prefer not to have to plug anything in to my laptop. Also if you are using 2.4g then it is not as easy to switch to typing for phone, whereas when you're on bluetooth its just on fn-key shortcut to switch to phone and type quickly there.

The 2.4G didn't give me any issue when I tested it a few minutes. Of course my keyboard and my laptop distance was like 2 feet away only. Never bothered testing it further since not my use case. If it is being used with a desktop plugged to my TV across the room then maybe got issue?

on shopee i spotted a mkb for only Rm60 ohmy.gif

Mechanical Keyboard Gaming 87 Key Machanical Keyboard TKL Tenkeyless Ergonomic RGB For Laptop Computer PC K550
user posted image

is that the cheapest available mkb?  confused.gif  seems to be a noisy clicky switch, but at that price i don't mind as long as u don't require ur mkb to be silent e.g. office setting
in comparison a gaming rubberdome keyboard roughly around RM14.90 So you telling me u can't bump up ur budget to get a mkb over rubberdome at this price point gap? come on  sweat.gif Topres are lovely (tried before, no issues with them), but i can't imagine sticking to the old rubber dome now that mkbs are so cheap these days  smile.gif

My brother bought (and in the end passed to me) one of those budget cheapo dunno what brand models. Nice enough to use at the start (got knobs and everything and sub RM100 price) but by the time I got it already got bouncing keys etc. QC probably non existant. My current RK68 is SO much sturdier and reliable.
