For me, the "possible" culprit is previous telco.
Why?
Before MNP to current telco, me never have scammers SMS under previous telco. Only after MNP-o, the 1st SMS received.
The theories behind are:
1) The previous telco will sell our number to Scammers becoz we edy left the service. So, Subscribers can no longer take action to previous telco.
2) By doing action (1), Subscribers will start to blame current telco for receiving such scam SMS while not receiving when in previous telco. So, the blame was directly pointed to the current telco.
3) By doing action (1), the "revenge" to the "innocent" Subscriber is fulfilled... LOL...

I don't think the telco company did this, probably the credit card banker sell your info to other company once the staff leave the bank or the area you stay probably someone use SMS device phishing to send sms to all the people within that area. I experienced to receive sms same sender in different number at the same time. Probably that guy just drove around in the car to send sms spamWhy?
