Currently using some cheapo Toshiba 40L5650VM Smart TV. There sometime call IPTV can it be done within the TV?
I long time no touch tv so idk much, buying for my old folks as their old Astro thingy kong
.
Let me explain a bit from the beginning, afaik;
.
Normally, people watch Live TV shows on their TV sets from free-to-air TV channels(eg NTV7, RTM2, etc) or from non-free Satellite TV channels(eg Astro) or from Cable TV channels(= common in USA, eg Comcast). The latter 2 are quite similar in their catalogue of Live TV channels, eg both usually have Discovery, National Geographic, HBO, MTV, etc.
Got people or companies, in order to make some money, eg from ad revenue, put some of the above Live TV shows on their websites, eg tontondotcomdotmy, myklikdotrtmdotgovdotmy, ustvgodottv, wwitvdotcom, etc. Web-surfers can visit these websites to watch Live TV.
....... There are also tech-experts who collect many of these Live TV websites and make them into an app or program, eg Kodi and Plex. Unfortunately, to use such app/program for setting up their TV/computer and Internet connection requires some tech-chop as well. Android TV set-top boxes have such app/program like Kodi or Plex, preset for the buyers.
Complications can set in when the websites go offline/bankrupt/shutdown by government.
Also, got people record the above Live TV shows and later put them on their websites, eg free dramazdotse = HK TVB shows, free yuyutvdotcom, non-free Netflix, non-free Hulu, etc.
.
PS - Cable TV (= Metro TV.?) did not take off in Malaysia during the 1980s = got killed by the Astro monopoly. Cable TV is similar to Satellite TV and TM Home Unifi Fiber/Copper Internet where every house/property needs to be wired or cabled, in order to receive service to watch non-free Live TV channels.
