Just wondering, why is universal wall socket still not as popular in Malaysia? Now that we are more likely to source for electronics from china, most come with china plugs. Does it make sense to install universal wall socket to replace our standard UK socket?

Price aside, is there anything i should take note of? I notice on shopee and lazada, not a lot of choice for universal socket, mostly is from unheard brands.

no sirim is danger boy. malaysia only use UK 3 pin plug don't becuase you have a few china electronic product go and fix the china plug later cause you so much inconvenient in future.

just buy the few ringgit convertor for your china product

If its a 240V device just change the plug.
No point in using unsafe universal socket which has BIG holes where kids can stick their fingers into. That time i don't care whether you are green or purple lives matter but ain't noone gonna survive that.

If you want to use CN plug with the plugs that look like a down arrow, get the Xiaomi power strip, and rewire the plug into a UK plug, that way at least you can be assured that its grounded properly and pose no unsafe hazard.
Something like this

Officially any electrical appliance doesn't have sirim is not allowed to use here. So developer provide Universal will violet the code?

It's also more expensive.

Universal socket have a danger of pluging a wrong plug that mean for 110v. 110v plug usually is 2 flat pin. While 240v is 3 pin plug or 2 pin round plug without the earth.

Universal plug have a multi shape of hole in 1 hole. Usually bigger. The problem with such hole after sometime will loose and cannot hole the plug properly. ( the copper plate contact inside too)

The weight of the plug and wire will gravity pull down the plug and expose the copper terminal slightly. That is dangerous.

And also will give less/loose contact inside the terminal and cause sparking or no contact.

If you buy from a reputable brand there is no issue. Have been using a few years. China also have reputable brands nowadays with Rohs & CE certification.

No problem at all if your electrical items are from reputable brands with export Certificate. China have 2 types of quality, with certification you use better components & pay more. Local consumption, if smaller companies, don't know what they really use. If big brands no worry.
