Say you have no limited budget to build a single desktop PC, what would you have for the build in terms of spec? Motherboard, CPU, RAM and speed, graphic card/video capture card, soundcard (if it is still relevant today), HDD, networking items.
Just interested in seeing what is available in the top end consumer market today.

i think for rig only around 10k can consider top end. more than that might be the cost of accessories like rgb and custom water cooling work.

If you have to ask you don't need a thread ripper. Probably not 3950x either. So go with 3800x. This post has been edited by shirohamada: Jun 4 2020, 02:06 AM

I read report on rendering video using 3900X, there is no 3950 on the test. 3900 have better speed, 3950 have more threads, 3950 is more expensive and is a lot better?

QUOTE(DValentine @ Jun 4 2020, 02:26 AM) Yes, they are a good brand in Japan, just don't see them much in other places. Mine is just a normal consumer version, with a sensor in front so if a person is leaving in front it will turn off in a few seconds to save energy and screen, it will turn on again if a person in front.

threadripper, 64gb ram 3600 c18 (gaming and since infinity fabric in amd processors don't benefit from speeds higher than 3600) or 64gb ram 2666 ecc (workstation), graphic card wait next gen since current gen very boring, samsung pro nvme ssd for OS and application, buy more than one to setup raid 0 for shits and giggles, xfp/sfp/sfp+ nic as long as 10Gb/s, a good SAN setup for long term storage with 10Gb/s connection to pc, cooling just put pc inside aircon room 24/7 can, custom water cooling loop also can, but custom water loop need to be maintained regularly
other parts like mobo, casing and psu as long as reliable (read reviews) and up to spec just pick what design you like, not going to matter a lot unless you're planning to break world record in overclocking
for monitors I personally own an LG 27GL850, but ultrawides and/or semi-profesional series like dell ultrasharp series also interesting
keyboards nowadays plenty of choices, even with custom keycaps and layouts accessible on to buy from internet
mouse is the one thing I'm not sure of, manufacturers say rated to last for 10 million clicks, but after a few months already start double clicking
