QUOTE(kupu @ Aug 1 2007, 12:20 AM) can anyone tell me what is the difference between secc and aluminium chassis? In terms of weight, yes.Do they differs in the sense of lightness and heat rejection capacity? Aluminium casings are alot lighter than SECC casings. In terms of heat dissipations, in a little way, yes Aluminium casings does help in dissipating heat, but not by much, just a little. |

alu case does not help in heat dissipation as the case does not come into direct contact with the heat producing component unlike heatsinks...the only thing that the case has as a heat conductor from those components would be air... and air can be said to be one of the worst heat conductor.
it is the design of the case that helps with heat dissipation...not the material. |

Which one does people prefer nowadays? Budget does comes first, but which one is more preferable? SECC or aluminium casing? As for heatsinks, do shops sells em?

most people prefer aluminium...main reason is the weight.. next reason is because they look uber sexy.
as for heatsinks, yes, shops sell them...but also depends on what heatsink u want. |

wat heatsink are u talking about in the first place?
i was talking about aftermarket heatsinks for CPUs, graphics card etc.. but in terms of heatsink, copper is a better material. ur CPU, graphics card, motherboard should already have heatsinks on them. |

Better go for alu casee if u decide to bring it anywhere..i mean to a lan party But for starer,go for Lian li-its very cheap.. |

those heat pipes might work sometime just might not work, all depends on where u place ur mobo...........
so far i only found heat pipes for mother boards really works good on PWM only, others more or less about the same no point |

Depends on your case ventilation & the position of the components. If you have even ONE case fan (or have a decent PSU fan), then it unlikely you'll notice any difference. Which in that case you do have a good point, since most PCs today have case fans, so yes, there is negligible difference.it is the design of the case that helps with heat dissipation...not the material. SECC aka steel is usually cheaper, but it varies from manufacturer.QUOTE(ocz @ Aug 1 2007, 04:24 PM) Better go for alu casee if u decide to bring it anywhere..i mean to a lan party Lian-Li and cheap.
