Hi guys ,

Theres a small question needed some wide suggestion , I'm currently running on 2 channel passive system (Boston) + 1 channel mono block powered on Alpine x100 .
My friend let me to test his pxah100 on my player since its support external imprint , I can hear significant sound improve overall with a little minor tuning we did .

Since its a old model signal processor , I found on net theres now amplifier that has build in DSP .
The normal random brand I came across was from Blaupunkt / Nakamichi and Pegasus and knock of China .

The question is ;

1) Do you think its worth it to just get external SP like H100 rather then build in DSP .
2) Referring to build in amp with DSP , why are those extra channel till 8 of them .

Im not sure how well this can cope up with overall performance but I think I have to upgrade for better sound staging .

Please advise .

Ok:

I have an Alpine PXA-H800 i use for my home cinema set-up,

and for my car i use Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit to handle all sound and processing required for 2-way front stage + 1 sub.

I say get a top of the line HU for your car, and settle for life.

The car is actually the WORST environment to listen to music.

Hence i feel don't need to go full audio processing for car.

Invest in quality components (speakers, cables, amp, big-3 electrical upgrade, soundproofing) better.

Thanks bro for your reply .

I actually was considering too , for example Alpine 9887 that has build in imprint .
The question is how effective build in player / build in amp / add on signal processor could difference on quality

As you know I hate messy wiring or add-ons .
I agree on the listening environment in-car , but just wanted to improve overall sound staging .
I have already done the big 3 , 2ply soundproof , ofc cables (as advised by Howie) . The only I need to strengthen mid bass placement .

Oh, ssignal processor is VERY EFFECTIVE for EXTERNAL AMPLIFIER.

However, no matter how good the HU is, forget about the internal amp.
20W RMS is to small for any sound systems.

When using external amp, the difference in quality and tunability is HUGE!
Thats i why i recommend a top of the line HU.

Never go for pxah100...its basically making any lower end alpine headunit to become 9887..and that's it.

For the money, you can get many option like the dsp u mention. But bear in mind these dsp are using headunit mosfet. The output is limited too... but it will sound much much better because of the tuning function.

My comment on the s60 is the super lack of mid bass, thus you found the hi is too much. Seems like power for the mid and hi doesn't match with the crossover design for me...

I has done some 80prs upgrade with same price range external dsp...so you should be able to figure now how good a built in dsp is...
