Hi, my house external ceiling on the car porch having leaking issues. Weird are that:

i) today I noticed that it wasn’t leaking at all although raining heavily. Other time when no rain the water was dripping from the ceiling wall, bit by bit;

ii) the water dripping was white in color and there is whitish substance accumulating on the floor.

I have no idea where is the source of leaking. Any advise?

There are crack signs on the slab and it appeared 'worn out'. Definite need to redo the waterproofing.

Water need time to travel through the fine crack hence it wont leak immediately.
When water is use to wash a bare cement wall, the waste water will appear whitish.

assuming you are right, what is your recommendation?

Thanks for the info. Will check it out if it's easy to climb up there. Else I guess need to spend the RM500

It resolved the leaking issue or not?

already paint 2 layers using water proof painting on top the car porch slab. unfortunately, beneath the car porch slab still leakings....2/3 days after raining time. possible water may come from elsewhere??

after new year, i will paint the third layer and hope for miracles. in btw, the waterproof paint brand i used is sikacoat. any comment?

It's best result if you do a layer of cementitious waterproof such as Sika-107. Let it cure, and finished with 2 layers of Sikacoat 300. I recommend finished with Bostik Boscoseal AC2.

thanks. i think the water may get into cracks from elsewhere

that’s how my house concrete slab above the car porch look like

red arrow - leaking point beneath the metal plate

yellow arrow - slab flooring with crack which I initially thought it is culprit. But already paint 3 layer of waterproof paint and more paint was input onto the small crack area. Can’t really seen the crack anymore because already cover up by the hardening/ dry up paint.

dark blue arrow- my own suspicion the water may also get in on the joining points btw the metal plate and the wall. plan to use silicone glue to seal it up. hope it work.

anyway, i felt up with this issue already...if still don’t resolved, i leave it as it is.

Pentens waterproof is just a paint. It works but won't last long.
Awning will work but costly.
Alternatively, if you are sure tiles floor is the culprit, try to re-grout with waterproof grout.
Lastly, the cheapest solution is to apply waterproof grout sealer but this won't last long...

was told the waterproof paint work on small crack.
not the major or bigger cracks areas

Just curious, why you only paint on the area that protrude from the surface, why the area that is sunken is not painted?
