Hi im actually looking to get an ipad for university. After researching, i realise that with a student discount the ipad pro 12.9 inch has the biggest savings.. ori price is RM4399 and the student price is RM3949.. i also realise that in carousell people are selling the ipad 12.9 2018 forabout 300 less of the original price.. do u think its a good idea for me to get an ipad pro and reselling when a new one comes out.. and buy the new one.. then when my degree finishes i sel it off?? i wouldnt spend a dime. OR is this too risky, cause im a student i can only afford the ipad air actually

PS if anyone is looking to buy an ipad. pm me. i can get the discount for u

Have you ever thought if an iPad would be good enough for university? I have an iPad Pro for the past 2 years. It's good, has some flexibility now that it can read a thumb drive directly, and battery life is decent. However, depending on what you will be using it for, it may not be good enough. Continuous typing on virtual keyboard is painful on the finger. I know because I get it so frequent. Until I got myself a physical keyboard.

So RM3949 or even a second hand unit, the same amount could be used to get a good reasonable spec laptop, not low end models. The days for tablets to replace laptops is still ongoing, but not here yet, in my opinion.

Depends on what course you are in rn, I think just a regular ipad air/any non-pro ipad (that supports apple pencil and buy keyboard folio. Accessories for iPad pro is pretty expensive, even w/student discount.

Non-pro ipad is good enough for apps like good notes, pdf expert (basically any notes taking app)

And do you really need 12.9”? If you are bringing it around campus in the future, 12.9” is pretty heavy.

Go for whatever suits your budget. I'm sure you still need your laptop at some point, iPad only can be used as a secondary device in your case.

Thanks.

I think the ipad is too old for people want it. Probably just give away to relative kids.

Sorry if I sound ignorant. But I am wondering why people are buying used iPad at price very close, or sometimes higher than what Apple themselves are selling for new? sweat.gif

I mean, first of all, they could claim an extra RM2.5k of tax rebate. Depending on your annual salary, it's worth at least RM100-200.
Secondly, one can buy using education price, which my gf happens to qualify. That's another ~RM300 knocks off from the MSRP. The strange thing is, Apple never checked if my gf really qualifies to purchase at Education price or not. Or am I missing something? rclxub.gif

Most of the used iPad Pro 2018 and onwards are overpriced.

IPad pro accessories are not cheap. Seems like luxurious for certain usage when you add the whole package up.
