Hey guys, I'm an 18y/o 'kid' trying to get my hands on some entry level pc. I've done some research and contact some seller but my parents are still wondering if the price can go anymore lower than rm2k. Do you guys have any budget build/ trusted seller recommendations for me? I look forward to hear all of you suggestions.

My pc is mainly for browsing, gaming, watching videos etc. Games I would usually play are dota2, LOL, CSGO, Destiny 2, Cod Warzone. Not looking for a pc with GPU because I'll leave it in future upgrades.

2nd question is which mobo are more useful for future upgrades? A320m or B450m, personally would choose b450m but if I can save a couple bucks it would help too.

3rd question is should I buy a psu or a case that comes with a psu? Because the case with psu do save me some money, but they look low quality and not safe πŸ˜….

I look forward to all of your responds, please do give me some feedback!

what is your budget?

Under 2000, including a monitor. Parents are strict with spending money πŸ˜… a little over 2000 should be alright πŸ˜…

IF you want your custom pc to run games consistently, I would suggest you consider a 2nd hand gpu into your budget, example a Sapphire RX580 8gb is running around MYR500 for 2nd hand if you are able to find one, 2nd regarding about motherboard, I personally dont care about what model is my motherboard as long as it comes from a reputable company and the motherboard is the size to your liking then it should be no problem, unless you want to overclock then a higer tier motherboard is recommended, NEVER EVER BUY A PSU THAT COMES WITH A CASE ! PSU is the most essential 1st stage for saving all your other custom pc compenent when there is unexpected power surge occur, we do not live in an ideal world where the power output is consistent and predictable, so NO never go cheap on your PSU, nowadays 550-650watt should be suffice to even play a AAA title games with no problem.

Thanks for clearing that out for me! Really needed the answers for 2nd and 3rd qeustions, much appreciated! However, where can I find 2nd hand components?

Yet still recommending crap. I don't even want DRAMless SSD garbage for free.

AMD Renoir APU is coming. I would not advise getting 3200G or 3400G now if thats the path he is going to take.

Destiny 2 Performance:

3400G built-in GPU has around the performance of GT 1030.

Damn, that really gave me an idea of how shitty the integrated gpu is πŸ˜… thanks tho, would consider your build, very efficient for everyday use, but I'm open for more suggestions!
Many thanks

I have another suggestion.. go buy 2nd hand dell/HP pc from 2nd hand pc shop...  Rm1k for the higher end pc, then u add ram and add graphic card...
hope should be within 2k budget.

Can't find many 2nd hand store in Ipoh πŸ˜…even if I did found some 2nd hand store they sell shitty stuff at shitty price. Went to IT Mall just now and many store closed down alr. Found one selling pc parts and they sold out of amd related products. Except a rm3200 pc with ryzen 5 3400g, Kingston 8gb ddr4, no gpu (because they actually sold that separately???? Lol what??) msi mobo(looks like one with gaming features) cooler master 650w psu (maybe 550w don't remember) 120gb ssd and 1tb seagate (forgot ssd brand because I never seen it b4) atx case.

They also have 2nd hand pc costing around 750 (intel setup) and the MOBO is old as fuckkkkk. Seller looked at me and said, this can run dota but I really recommend you to buy new pc.

Also forgot to mention I wasnt trying to play AAA games to be honest, and I am stuck with the daily reply quota so I can't answer everyone's questions.

Many thanks, Ryan

What AAA you want to play? How many FPS and resolution is your target?
*

Maybe COD Warzone? I don't really have interest in AAA titles yet, cuz I haven't game for a long time. I am aiming for 60+fps and maybe 1080p or 720p on average games (csgo, Dota, lol, destiny 2)

LOL. I got a lot of SSDs. Money already out.

Yes, the cons of DRAMless and user experience already pointed out. Its up to him.

1. I can't seem to find anyone selling 2300x, where can I find them? Do you have any recommendations?

2. What are you thoughts on 2nd hand/ refurbished parts? I've found some refurbished GPU on shoppee (mainly rx560 570 580) rx580 8gb ddr5 refurbished selling at rm500. 570 560 selling at around rm300+.

3. Which SSD do you recommend? Are the cheap ones mostly DRAMless?

4. This vid seems to show that 1600 is good, but it's an old cpu, the base clock is low, and it's only Zen, but it can still run most games smoothly. What do you think? https://youtu.be/n8_nFpPgkFQ

5. My parents question my decision on buying a desktop since I would be going to college, they asked me why wouldn't I buy a laptop instead? So do you have any laptop recommendations for daily use and light gaming?

Sorry if I asked too many questions πŸ˜… many thanks

Side note : I am not planning to buy the pc ASAP because new ryzen are coming soon, I would wait for that. And the economy is unstable right now, also PSU are getting less and less.

Can't answer all of the questions; but I'll try:

1. Look for online sellers like Dotatech on Lazada:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/amd-ryze...554bZcw3PH&mp=1

2. Most refurbished AMD GPUs (like those RX570/580) are likely to be ex-mining (for cryptocurrencies) cards, and they can be a gamble to buy them.  Either those cards can last for a long time, or may not.  You can't really tell how the cards are being treated during mining, as a lot of them tend to be used/abused depending on how experienced the user is during mining.  Usually the experienced will use things like custom BIOS that effectively reduces the voltage and fan speed of the GPU, along with temperature/humidity controlled rooms and a high quality power supply that ensures the longevity of those cards.  icon_idea.gif

3. Yes, most cheap ones tend to be DRAMless, and thus I always recommend referring to this guide:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B27...2gT4/edit#gid=0

Look under the column DRAM, and if the model says 'no' then avoid them at all costs icon_idea.gif

4. No problem, and in fact if you need more CPU power, you can always upgrade to a newer CPU, provided that you have the correct BIOS for that icon_idea.gif
Tip: Get a decent B450, rather than a B350/A320, as a B450 is the cheapest ticket for you to upgrade to Zen 3 CPUs in the near future icon_idea.gif

5. Without a budget it's hard to recommend, however don't expect to get anything much for RM2K icon_idea.gif

Shouldn't I be aiming for a core with better base clock even with less core/thread? Also zen technology seems old but its still reliable right? The asrock b450m Pro4 is for future proof right?

1. C-Zone still selling it.
2. Many mining cards on sale. Its risky.
3. Kingston UV500 120GB. Yes, avoid DRAMless at all cost. chocobo already showed you the list.
4. Yes, 6 core 12 threads. Lower clock speed. Its up to you.
5. Super budget laptop not built for games. Especially when you have Destiny 2 and CoD in mind.

And the wait may give you different spec.

Well, was hoping that waiting for new drops would make old cores/gpu price drop πŸ˜…

Also this daily post quota is annoying
