QUOTE(ryan47 @ May 24 2020, 08:31 PM) Under 2000, including a monitor. Parents are strict with spending money π
a little over 2000 should be alright π
Below I get from shopee, pricing should be cheaper but then you have to source it yourself. You can go A320M or Asrock B450M-HDV which cost around RM264 if you want a cheaper MB. I choose 2x RAM instead of 1 because Ryzen run faster with dual channel memory setup and you can add in another 2x4GB in future to become 16GB since the MB have 4 memory slot (B450M Pro4). Add in a SSD for boot drive will make the system run more faster. You can store your data and game folder in the 1TB HDD. I choose Tecware because it is more cheaper and come with 3/4 fan. I did not include a GPU since a new mid range card with 4GB like GTX 1650 or RX 560 cost around RM600+ new. I would suggest get an used RX470/480/570/580 which can cost around RM300-RM400 but then it will come with it own risk. Only the R3 2300X pricing I get from viewnet. Items Price (RM) Asrock B450M Pro4 318 Adata DDR4 2666 4Gb X2 163 Apacer AS340 SSD 120GB 99.88 Tecware Forge M 139 Seagate 1TB 169 FSP Hyper-K 500w 165 Acer EK220Q 285 AMD Ryzen 3 2300X 299 Total 1637.88 https://shopee.com.my/Asrock-B450M-Pro4-MAT...9687.2361540013 https://shopee.com.my/Seagate-BarraCuda-1TB...88920.341166116 https://shopee.com.my/TECWARE-FORGE-M-STEAL...6108.7830199806 https://shopee.com.my/ADATA-DDR4-(-4GB-8GB-...9687.4118767621 https://shopee.com.my/FSP-HYPER-K-500W-80-P...6936.1801048363 https://shopee.com.my/Acer-EK220Q-A-21.5-LE...4575.3226377350 https://shopee.com.my/APACER-AS340-2.5-SSD-...4975.1605528494 https://shopee.com.my/Asrock-B450M-HDV-R4.0...9687.2361604219 |

QUOTE(TristanX @ May 25 2020, 11:00 AM) AS340 is DRAMless garbage. 4GB RAM today is nono. You have to buy a pair again for dual channel if you want 16GB. A dram 120GB SSD cost more then RM200 compare to a dram-less SSD, more than double the price per performance. The only downside of dram-less is slower IO and lesser life-span, for only RM100.Since TS have a RM2K budget, you get what you pay for. BTW, a dram-less SSD still faster than a normal HDD. For the RAM, i suggest 2x4GB. |

QUOTE(TristanX @ May 25 2020, 12:16 PM) Yes, cheaper mobo with shitty VRM. Gonna have to upgrade motherboard again when TS decides to go 3700X or higher. UV500 still 43% more expensive compare to apacer as430. Like I say, you get what you pay for. There is UV500 120GB. lol https://shopee.com.my/search?keyword=uv500%20120gb 2X4GB? Then buy 2x8GB in future upgrade. You wanna pay extra? The B450M Pro4 have 4 slot, 2x4GB for now, can upgrade to 4x4GB in future if needed total 16GB. 8GB RAM is more than enough for daily usage and light gaming. |

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ May 25 2020, 12:27 PM) Note though, quad DIMMs can be very tricky to work with on AM4 platforms (especially if you factor something like XMP into the equation) Can check the MB hardware compatibility listhttps://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M%20Pro4/#Support |

QUOTE(ryan47 @ May 25 2020, 02:49 PM) Can't find many 2nd hand store in Ipoh π
even if I did found some 2nd hand store they sell shitty stuff at shitty price. Went to IT Mall just now and many store closed down alr. Found one selling pc parts and they sold out of amd related products. Except a rm3200 pc with ryzen 5 3400g, Kingston 8gb ddr4, no gpu (because they actually sold that separately???? Lol what??) msi mobo(looks like one with gaming features) cooler master 650w psu (maybe 550w don't remember) 120gb ssd and 1tb seagate (forgot ssd brand because I never seen it b4) atx case. What AAA you want to play? How many FPS and resolution is your target? They also have 2nd hand pc costing around 750 (intel setup) and the MOBO is old as fuckkkkk. Seller looked at me and said, this can run dota but I really recommend you to buy new pc. Also forgot to mention I wasnt trying to play AAA games to be honest, and I am stuck with the daily reply quota so I can't answer everyone's questions. Many thanks, Ryan |

QUOTE(TristanX @ May 25 2020, 01:19 PM) Yet still recommending crap. I don't even want DRAMless SSD garbage for free. Your so called "crap" tech exist for a reason.AMD Renoir APU is coming. I would not advise getting 3200G or 3400G now if thats the path he is going to take. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-ryzen...sktop-apu-specs https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Ryzen-400...s.466311.0.html Destiny 2 Performance: ![]() https://www.techspot.com/review/1478-destin...-pc-benchmarks/ 3400G built-in GPU has around the performance of GT 1030. If you want more performance you have to pay for it. |

QUOTE(ryan47 @ May 25 2020, 06:57 PM) Maybe COD Warzone? I don't really have interest in AAA titles yet, cuz I haven't game for a long time. I am aiming for 60+fps and maybe 1080p or 720p on average games (csgo, Dota, lol, destiny 2) This is good enough for your usage. For GPU, get NVIDIA 1050ti or AMD RX470/480/570/580 around RM500+, should be able to play 1080p/720p 60 fps with low settings and it fit within your RM 2K+ budget. If you want to play in higher details or more demanding AAA games, you need to get more expensive hardware. You get what you pay for. Btw, I am using Kingston A400 dram-less "crap" SSD since last year and encounter no problem at all. It boot and load much more faster than normal HDD and I have no complaint of it's performance with what I pay for it. QUOTE(TristanX @ May 25 2020, 08:47 PM) Yup. Its trash. It is ok since the money is not coming out from your pocket.https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4697732&hl=A400 Have fun with stutters (includes mouse) when it starts to lag. Less reliable and 3 years warranty too. I don't cry about the price when the hardware is better. Let TS decide what to buy since it is his own money. |

I am using Kingston A400 dram-less SSD and ex mining card RX 480 8GB (cost RM320) since last year and it work great until now for what I pay for it.
I understand the risk and i also understand the value I get from it too. With RM 2K budget, your option are limited for the games you want to play. Sacrifice have to be made. Btw, do not hope any big price drop for old tech unless you go for used parts. This post has been edited by hata_ph: May 26 2020, 05:37 PM |
