Hey guys, I'm an 18y/o 'kid' trying to get my hands on some entry level pc. I've done some research and contact some seller but my parents are still wondering if the price can go anymore lower than rm2k. Do you guys have any budget build/ trusted seller recommendations for me? I look forward to hear all of you suggestions.

My pc is mainly for browsing, gaming, watching videos etc. Games I would usually play are dota2, LOL, CSGO, Destiny 2, Cod Warzone. Not looking for a pc with GPU because I'll leave it in future upgrades.

2nd question is which mobo are more useful for future upgrades? A320m or B450m, personally would choose b450m but if I can save a couple bucks it would help too.

3rd question is should I buy a psu or a case that comes with a psu? Because the case with psu do save me some money, but they look low quality and not safe 😅.

I look forward to all of your responds, please do give me some feedback!

Super low budget makes it hard for a gaming rig. Quality comes at a price. Just go for these first

AMD Ryzen 3 2300X - 299
Asrock B450M Pro4 - 349
G.Skill Aegis 8GB DDR4-2666 X1 - 169
Sapphire RX 570 4GB ITX - 479
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 179
FSP Hyper K 500W - 169
Cooler Master Masterbox Lite 3.1 - 169
Acer EK220Q - 299

RM2112 total (Viewnet prices)

Yes, it plays games.

Below I get from shopee, pricing should be cheaper but then you have to source it yourself.
You can go A320M or Asrock B450M-HDV which cost around RM264 if you want a cheaper MB.
I choose 2x RAM instead of 1 because Ryzen run faster with dual channel memory setup and you can add in another 2x4GB in future to become 16GB since the MB have 4 memory slot (B450M Pro4).
Add in a SSD for boot drive will make the system run more faster. You can store your data and game folder in the 1TB HDD.
I choose Tecware because it is more cheaper and come with 3/4 fan.
I did not include a GPU since a new mid range card with 4GB like GTX 1650 or RX 560 cost around RM600+ new. I would suggest get an used RX470/480/570/580 which can cost around RM300-RM400 but then it will come with it own risk.
Only the R3 2300X pricing I get from viewnet.

AS340 is DRAMless garbage. 4GB RAM today is nono. You have to buy a pair again for dual channel if you want 16GB.

Can go lower... A cheaper Mobo and a cheaper case.. but I'll swap SSD with the HDD.

Yes, cheaper mobo with shitty VRM. Gonna have to upgrade motherboard again when TS decides to go 3700X or higher.

QUOTE(hata_ph @ May 25 2020, 12:12 PM)
A dram 120GB SSD cost more then RM200 compare to a dram-less SSD, more than double the price per performance. The only downside of dram-less is slower IO and lesser life-span, for only RM100.
Since TS have a RM2K budget, you get what you pay for. BTW, a dram-less SSD still faster than a normal HDD.
For the RAM, i suggest 2x4GB.

There is UV500 120GB. lol

https://shopee.com.my/search?keyword=uv500%20120gb

2X4GB? Then buy 2x8GB in future upgrade. You wanna pay extra?

UV500 still 43% more expensive compare to apacer as430. Like I say, you get what you pay for.

The B450M Pro4 have 4 slot, 2x4GB for now, can upgrade to 4x4GB in future if needed total 16GB. 8GB RAM is more than enough for daily usage and light gaming.
*
Yet his budget have room to fit it.

2X4GB is garbage recommendation on 2020. Go for 1X8GB instead.

Yes, if you want SSD a requirement from a low budget rig. Change the HDD to SSD.

Unless you want me to do the math for you.

Yet still recommending crap. I don't even want DRAMless SSD garbage for free.

AMD Renoir APU is coming. I would not advise getting 3200G or 3400G now if thats the path he is going to take.

Destiny 2 Performance:

3400G built-in GPU has around the performance of GT 1030.

Damn, that really gave me an idea of how shitty the integrated gpu is 😅 thanks tho, would consider your build, very efficient for everyday use, but I'm open for more suggestions!
Many thanks

Buying everything from same shop may get you some discount as well.

Motherboard has better VRM than most of the rest. Only MSI B450 Tomahawk, B450-A Pro and B450M Mortar beats it.

Asrock B450 Gaming K4 is identical to B450M Pro4 when it comes to VRM. Can even handle 3950X (may still need to upgrade casing) in the future too.

Your so called "crap" tech exist for a reason.
If you want more performance you have to pay for it.

And there is room for Kingston UV500 120GB on your spec. Its laughable recommendation.

This is good enough for your usage. For GPU, get NVIDIA 1050ti or AMD RX470/480/570/580 around RM500+, should be able to play 1080p/720p 60 fps with low settings and it fit within your RM 2K+ budget.
If you want to play in higher details or more demanding AAA games, you need to get more expensive hardware. You get what you pay for.

Btw, I am using Kingston A400 dram-less "crap" SSD since last year and encounter no problem at all. It boot and load much more faster than normal HDD and I have no complaint of it's performance with what I pay for it.

Yup. Its trash.

Have fun with stutters (includes mouse) when it starts to lag. Less reliable and 3 years warranty too.

I don't cry about the price when the hardware is better.

Let TS decide what to buy since it is his own money.

LOL. I got a lot of SSDs. Money already out.

Yes, the cons of DRAMless and user experience already pointed out. Its up to him.

1. I can't seem to find anyone selling 2300x, where can I find them? Do you have any recommendations?

2. What are you thoughts on 2nd hand/ refurbished parts? I've found some refurbished GPU on shoppee (mainly rx560 570 580) rx580 8gb ddr5 refurbished selling at rm500. 570 560 selling at around rm300+.

3. Which SSD do you recommend? Are the cheap ones mostly DRAMless?

4. This vid seems to show that 1600 is good, but it's an old cpu, the base clock is low, and it's only Zen, but it can still run most games smoothly. What do you think? https://youtu.be/n8_nFpPgkFQ

5. My parents question my decision on buying a desktop since I would be going to college, they asked me why wouldn't I buy a laptop instead? So do you have any laptop recommendations for daily use and light gaming?

Sorry if I asked too many questions 😅 many thanks

Side note : I am not planning to buy the pc ASAP because new ryzen are coming soon, I would wait for that. And the economy is unstable right now, also PSU are getting less and less.
*
1. C-Zone still selling it.
2. Many mining cards on sale. Its risky.
3. Kingston UV500 120GB. Yes, avoid DRAMless at all cost. chocobo already showed you the list.
4. Yes, 6 core 12 threads. Lower clock speed. Its up to you.
5. Super budget laptop not built for games. Especially when you have Destiny 2 and CoD in mind.

And the wait may give you different spec.
