Is Hard disk space of 120GB , 4GB ram sufficient for Windows 10 64 bit?
My primary usage is surfing net, Google Chrome, playing stocks, watching YouTube / videos online, ocassionally Microsoft office (word, excel, PowerPoint)
I don't gaming. Ya, thinking to buy a laptop for basic usage.

Yes, as long as you do not store big data inside the ssd.

Should be enough. I have an older laptop with only 128GB SSD soldered in with 4GB ram running win 10, and could still install a few art and cad program.

Sure enough. Clean install Win 10 about 30 GB. After load all needed software top out about 60 GB used. For the longest time I was using 120 GB SSD for my PC, no problem. Only must make sure to plug in USB when have things to save like videos and images.
One issue is that the speed of 120 GB usually the slowest of the family of SSD. But still much faster than HDD, so YMMV.
4 GB RAM also no issue, especially since you use SSD when ever there there is swap file going on.

May be later a bit slow if edit PowerPoint with picture/image/movie/link, word & excel may be no problem. Normally 120GB SSD could upgrade later if nearly full, price for SSD now reasonable. If the 4GB RAM not soldered also could upgrade later. Anyway SSD will make the system better/faster. My advice avoid open many program or browser windows at same time.

For general tasks should be fine and dandy.

Ya, thinking to buy a laptop for basic usage. The price gap between 120GB and 240GB is too small, and thus I'd always recommend a 240GB drive as it will give you much more breathing room for future software/updates Although to be fair, you might want an upgrade to 8GB RAM for a bit more room as well too Since this is a laptop, you might want to ask at the mobile computing forum ZM Fong

shoiuld be sufficient for OS and some programs, leave more empty space in the SSD, to let it run sufficiently, empty space is particularly important in SSD then HDD, in terms of speed and life span. smaller SSD hav less channel with less NAND chips, so bigger SSD would have more channel to transfer the data with more NAND chips

would recommend at least 8GB RAM, 4GB RAM will be using page file a lot which might reduce SSD lifespan

I'd go for more storage, SSD prices are more affordable these days than last time.

Just barely enough.
240/250/256GB is better Also, 4GB RAM is definitely not enough even for those usage. 8GB is the minimum for Windows 10 nowadays

QUOTE(geekystef @ May 23 2020, 01:40 PM) I echo the same sentiment as the rest -- 240GB with 8GB RAM would be a wiser and better choice. FYI, Chrome uses an exorbitant amount of your computer's memory. A quick look at your task manager will reveal a shocking number of memory-hogging Chrome processes. Since most of us are accustomed to lots of tabs and fast page loading, there will a noticeable decline in performance with only 4GB RAM. I But, I see most laptop are giving 4Gb ram

QUOTE(geekystef @ May 23 2020, 05:20 PM) Not really. It depends on the range of laptops that you're looking at. Most standard consumer-grade laptops by Dell and Lenovo come with 8GB RAM. Those 1500 -2000+ one, are giving 4 GB ram..
