Hey guys, I have received my Wise card. Have been using it for a while for in store transactions. I noticed when I go to McDonalds (Maybank terminals) it always decline to accept wave, even swipe payments; I didn’t disable any wave/swipe transactions so it has left me baffled. I always have to resort to PIN transactions. Has anyone encountered this and what is the solution?

Tried using Wise Card for Pepper Lunch in Pavilion Bukit Bintang, both wave transactions failed. The merchant used OCBC terminal.

OCBC:
No, it’s a white slim profile card terminal

CIMB:
Yes, it’s the grey bulky terminal; dinosaur looking terminal

Bruh, the point of the card is not to withdraw your foreign currency abroad; but to use it to pay for stuff with merchants who support Visa. You only need to withdraw if the merchant really stubborn af and only accepts cash. Tell me which is more convenient, having to manually calculate each note of foreign currency or just wave/swipe/PIN each transaction.

Yes, if you change your region to Malaysia (on Wise’s settings not phone settings). Partner bank for MYR account is from JP Morgan Chase Bank.

Since Malaysia has no Apple or Google Pay it would not work unless it was originally registered in Malaysia (like mine).

According to some online, they only registered for Wise to get Apple Pay. They did this by registering in an Apple Pay supported country like Singapore. Then they just manually switched back or contacted CS to switch them back to Malaysia. According to them, the digital card details would still be in Apple Pay, as long as you didn’t delete it from your iCloud account. I assume Google Pay would work similarly.

Yeah, if you use your foreign bank account to top up Wise, keep it as it is. If you use a Malaysian bank account, better switch to Malaysia. If you switch regions, in theory as long as you keep the digital Wise card linked to your Google Pay account; It should be there but then again I’m only sure for Apple Pay. (From the experience on the APPLE PAY IN MALAYSIA forum and on YouTube)

Tried using Wise Card for Tealive in Publika, both wave transactions failed. The merchant used globalpayments (so ironic) powered by GHL

Tried using Wise Card for Starbucks in Tropicana Gardens, wave transaction failed; had to resort to insert card. The merchant used Maybank terminal.

To note, whenever I use my Wise card at any Maybank terminal, they automatically reject wave transactions, I then would have the option of swipe or PIN. After swiping, they would also reject automatically. When you actually go to Insert card you have two options, either you type in your PIN or just press green(OK) on the PINpad to authorised the transaction. Pressing green(OK) would bypass PIN authorisation.

Firstly, how do we do debit/credit card reloads for Wise. Secondly, will this effect people who do online banking (FPX) transfer?

Tried using Wise Card for FamilyMart in IPC, Mutiara Damansara; wave transactions successful. The merchant used Maybank terminal (grey & bulky with JCB support).

I use my Wise card at McDonald’s 1U and Starbucks (both Maybank terminals) those terminals are black and have a slim profile. Always reject wave & swipe transaction. But for insert payments, I have a choice of typing in my PIN or bypass PIN authentication by pressing green(OK)

Yeah, I also tried adding my virtual Wise card into Shopee just for fun. Said it was an invalid card, so not all sites support the virtual card.

Tried using Wise Card for llaollao in 1U; both wave transactions failed. The merchant used CIMB partnered CARDPAY by GHL terminal (grey & bulky).

No admin fee/surcharge as you are basically paying 1:1. Paying Wise MYR to reload your MYR balance. I haven’t tried the withdrawal feature as I intend to use the card for the purchase anyway; unless the merchant is very stubborn and only accepts cash.

You should be able to transfer from one Wise USD account to another Wise USD account as you have the ACH routing number and account number. Unless you are transferring more than RM20k (includes all transfers to your account and all currency current balances) which they would automatically reject.

Tried using Wise Card for parking in Pavilion Bukit Bintang, wave transaction successful. The merchant used WorldLine Vanila powered by SONICBOOM terminal.
