QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Jan 12 2023, 12:29 PM) Got so high? Even Business account only can hold RM100k max, got some other type of account? How do you store RM950k in WISE? We're talking about a simple international money transfer to a bank account, not a Wise local currency account. Wise does that very well as it's core business, and for very large sums.

QUOTE(il0ve51 @ Jan 12 2023, 12:16 PM) i guess now the money stuck at her wise account, how to withdraw it? If it's already in her Wise currency account (not stuck in transfer processing), then just initiate a money transfer in the Wise app to your bank account here.

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Jan 12 2023, 12:42 PM) You mean you use WISE to receive large amount in the JP Morgan Bank ac allocated by WISE? I have issue transferring large amount to Singapore Bank also, can I use WISE for this purpose? Using WISE better exchange rates and lower fess? Before Wise introduced the card and multi-currency accounts, it solely existed for the purpose of international money transfers and I use it a lot to send and receive money from people around the world. For sending money from Malaysia to supported foreign countries, it accepts source funds from either direct FPX or any other bank transfer method to their JP Morgan account, and then converts and remits the converted amount to the foreign bank account you wish to transfer to via their partner bank in that country.

QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Jan 12 2023, 01:15 PM) Oh, I see. Does this means I can say, receive SGD 50k from my Singapore CIMB bank? And then send from the JP Morgan the SGD 50k and convert it to RM to send to my local Maybank? Can I do it the other way from JP Morgan to the Singapore Bank as well? This is all done as one single Wise transaction, i.e. you are performing one simple international funds transfer from Point A to Point B. You can send SGD from CIMB SG to MBB MY (converted to RM), and you can send MYR from MBB MY to CIMB SG (converted to SGD). You may check the Wise website for their product overview and how it all works.

QUOTE(il0ve51 @ Jan 12 2023, 01:17 PM) if money in wise account (any currency) transfer to local malaysia bank account got any charges other than the currency conversation fee? Got... even MYR cash out to Malaysia bank will have a small fee. When you initiate the transfer, it will tell you exactly how much the exchange rate will be (if it involves forex) and the total fees imposed. Try it once and see. QUOTE(il0ve51 @ Jan 12 2023, 02:13 PM) will try and see. i received 1500USD from sale of second hand apple product from expat here. stuck at the money inside wise. should i convert to RM first before to local bank or direct USD to RM local bank? Will there be saving on either way? If it is already in Wise, as mentioned, just transfer it to your local bank account in Malaysia and be done with it. The app will tell you exactly how much you will incur in fees. For your scenario it's the most viable and cost efficient option to get that money out of Wise and into your local Malaysian bank...

QUOTE(jaslina2 @ Jan 13 2023, 09:33 AM) if transfer from own wise account to own local bank account will definitely not trigger? i remember there is like 10k then bank will call you The bank's SOP for these matters differ and is not related to Wise. If there is nothing illegal going on there is nothing to worry about.

QUOTE(jonoave @ Jan 13 2023, 01:47 PM) No need for your aunt to trouble. Transfer of Euro within EU is free. You sign up for a Wise account, then open a WISE Euro account. Give the details of you Wise Euro account to your aunt, mainly the IBAN number. Then you'll receive the full amount of Euro in your Wise Euro account. After that, you can transfer the money from your Wise Euro account to a local Malaysian bank, with the conversion rate and fees charged by Wise (which is typically cheaper than banks). The app will clearly show much fees and conversion rate, and the amount of MYR you will receive - there is no additional charges imposed by banks. For small sums, yes. But he said a large sum, and for large sums, the Wise currency account cannot hold so much cash.....

QUOTE(frostfrench @ Jan 28 2023, 08:42 PM) I am wondering whether to set up WISE to transfer RM to SG$ or set up CIMB SG. WISE have better rates or CIMB MY to CIMB SG for RM to SG$ ? Thanks You're aware that most people who setup a cimb SG account then use Wise to send money over into that cimb SG account ?

QUOTE(ideaplus @ Jan 30 2023, 06:10 PM) Hi all bros, I'll going to Bangkok in another 2 months, and I wish to understand whether wise card can be use contactless via wave or samsung pay or google pay in Thailand or Bangkok specifically. If contactless can be use perfectly, I would apply now and hope it can arrive before April Contactless feature - yes. Works in Thailand? You can try and let us know? Wise supports Google Pay and Apple Pay in a lot of countries, except Malaysia for now... Enjoy your trip. This post has been edited by gooroojee: Jan 30 2023, 07:17 PM

QUOTE(ideaplus @ Jan 30 2023, 07:37 PM) Non supported on Samsung pay or google pay for MY wise quite troublesome And their website only show can store Thai Baht, but no indicated can spend via its card or wave But SG wise website stated clearly can use its card for Thai Baht Wise SGNo worries, the Visa debit function works globally in most countries. As long as you have enough money in Wise, you can swipe it where Visa is accepted. Why the emphasis on wave? I've used it overseas at retail stores and made ATM withdrawals using chip and PIN (4 digits), and it works fine.

QUOTE(acbc @ Jan 30 2023, 08:25 PM) Wanna double check before I fly down to Cambodia next month. I have 3 accounts inside Wise. All with certain amounts. Example. AUD @ 2000 MYR @ 5000 USD @ 1000 Right now, whenever I used the card in MY, it will deduct from the MYR account. So, let's say the MYR account is low (say below 500) and I want to buy something over USD 500 in Cambodia, will it still deduct from the MYR account first or straight away deduct from the USD account? Wise says they will pick the currency with the best rate and exchange it for you to complete your purchase.

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Jan 30 2023, 10:02 PM) if got usd, will deduct usd till it depleted. then only myr Are you sure though. Because Wise looks for the currency with the lowest fee exchange , and in this case the lowest fees to change to Cambodian KHR is AUD, then USD, then MYR, in that order...

QUOTE(ideaplus @ Jan 30 2023, 11:24 PM) Wave is faster and I'm pretty worried about what will be the reaction of workers if I swipe the wise card at some mini snack store or small restaurant. Btw according to you, I just need to deposit MYR into wise MY card in Malaysia and convert it into Baht whenever I need to use it when I'm at Bangkok? you can use your Visa debit as long as there are sufficient funds in your Wise account across all currencies . You don't even need to convert it yourself. I mentioned Wise will auto convert to THB for you. The exchange rate after including conversion fee is typically still better than a money changer or credit card.

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Jan 31 2023, 12:04 AM) Quote taken from wise "If you have the local currency in your account, the Wise card will use it. If not, it will auto-convert your money at the real rate, for a tiny fee. Either way, it’s much cheaper than old-school bank cards, both online and in person." all these listed on their website I know. It goes further than that basic statement. If you have more than one foreign currency Wise will choose the one with lowest fees first. That's how I landed at it changing AUD first, then USD, then MYR because the fees are lowest to highest in that order, when changing to Cambodian currency. You replied saying USD first then MYR and didn't mention AUD, which afaik isn't in the order of lowest fee first...
