Yes, am aware of that.

Only problem is, from the past few times I transacted using BigPay, that won't be the precise final reflected charges, so it is only indicative & can't be used to compare directly to Wise real-time transparent rate & fees.

Oh well no worries, thanks for the help.

Bottom Line: Tony Fernandez can't be trusted.

Everything is on it's default setting. One thing you can try is to change the spending limit to maximum under Manage > Account Limits > Contactless (this flow is for iOS) and maybe that might trigger the system to allow contactless. It's also worth noting my card is new, I am new to Wise and received my card in November. If all else fails, maybe can try contacting their support team and tell them that the contactless on the card is faulty.

Here are a couple of screenshots to show my payment success via contactless in MY and SG.

Hmm...makes me itchy to try again. Ok, gonna top up some money and try to use tomorrow.

Has anyone here transferred foreign currency, e.g., USD, from their Wise account directly to their foreign currency account with local banks in Malaysia, e.g., Maybank, CIMB, etc.?
*
QUOTE(gooroojee @ Dec 14 2022, 01:49 PM)
No, it's not supported. You may try asking Wise support team for a more detailed response.

You can try other means to place foreign currency directly into the FCA account though, e.g. TT. At least for CIMB, there is no currency conversion fee imposed.
*
If can, the bank cannot cari makan already...

But you can use WISE to send SGD directly to Singapore Bank (in SGD of course).

So I did some testing with the contactless, and if my assumption is right, it might be down to the actual card terminal (or bank acceptance?). I tried at 2 places recently, one at KK Supermart and another one in the same FamilyMart as my previous post. KK was using a Public Bank terminal which looks like this.

user posted image

While FamilyMart's terminal is like this (machine with keypad, issued by Maybank).

user posted image

I have not tried at any other places, or ones with more modern terminals (touch screen and e-wallet compatible). When I tried at KK, contactless did indeed fail, however at FamilyMart it was a success. Do you guys recall which banks terminal you interfaced with when making payment?

Hmm...but shouldnt WAVE be standard? I use SamsungPAY and never have a single problem. I will try use it the next few days.

i will try samsung pay with WISE  in Singapore next time i go.
*
No. What I meant is SamsungPay never have issue. Only certain bank cards are supported by SamsungPay

Been using WISE for a while but went over the 20k limit … I assumed they would auto transfer to my local account (which I guess wasn’t marked as external) so my account and the funds have now been locked …

Any ideas how long it takes them to resolve it when this happens?
*
I don't know about this external account. So i need to mark my local Bank Account as External account? If got excess, means the money automatically transfer there?

According to their email, yeah.  I just assumed mine was but didn’t check so now my account / login is totally frozen. Only went to check the app as my card didn’t work earlier.

It’s happened in the past but I’d normally do a manual transfer out. Was sick this week so been in bed since Wednesday and didn’t really check my emails during that time sad.gif
*
Eh, i checked mine.

Account->Malaysian Ringgit-> it is the JP Morgan account....is consider the external account? Means money will be stored here if excess 20k?

No, external account. Like a Maybank account for example ..

Unless I’m missing something and JP Morgan offers domestic RM accounts to consumers

Balance can’t exceed RM20K … mine happened to be in EUR balance.
*
How to setup this?

I’m probably not the best person to ask as my account got locked, so can’t even access the app now to check anyway.

Is it possible to get the virtual card without getting the physical card? It seems I don't see the option for that?
*
Nope. Must get physical card. Aiya. RM15 or so only.

I'm planning on getting a Wise card for online purchases since they have the Virtual Credit Card feature. Was wondering if there are any fees for topping up the card and also transferring the unused MYR back into your bank account?
*
Topup RM no fees. Never tried transfer back to bank account though.

Try lah and update us. I am thinking to try withdraw SGD from ATM there during CNY when I am there.

When I withdrew overseas in the foreign country's ATM, e.g. withdrawing VND from my Wise VND account, at a Vietnam bank's ATM, Wise didn't charge any fees, but the bank itself charged a fee for using their ATM, which if I recall was quite high.
*
Is the charges prompted to you at the ATM or you just got a deduction in your Wise account without notification?

My Wise card got contactless payment (paywave) issue when I'm onboard oversea and also in Malaysia, anyone encountered this problem? (CHIP & PIN Payment work very well for me), I have email Wise Support, however, I still can't solve the issue.

I have tried:
1. On and off contactless payment button at Wise App.
2. Change contactless payment limit from default to Maximum.

Anything I should try before I proceed to replace the card as suggested by Wise Support? as I do not want to get a brand new card that does not work again.
*
It's like a Universal problem. I can see like 9 out of 10 people have issues with it here. New card or old card all the same. Just use PIN when overseas.

Thanks, then I shall not go for the "replacing card" solution.

I have no issue with PIN payment, but when it comes to certain payment terminal that does not have place for you to slot in card and no PIN keypad, i.e. Bus, Train & parking terminal (Oversea), then it defeat the purpose of me having a Wise card already, if I have to take out my credit card just to tap it.

Duduk Train kat Malaysia bolehlah guna TnG card, tapi kat oversea, tak nak la beli mereka punya card la (i.e. London Oyster card).
*
I think if travelling for extended period better buy foreign country pass card or their version of TNG. I am going to Japan in March, definitely need to get their cards for trains there.

Guys, just tested contactless at 7-11 in IPC. It works!

When I tried it like over a year ago somewhere else, it didn't work.

I am wondering is it because of balance in card? Last time I have less than RM100. Today I have over RM250. Please test with a higher balance.

I am going to some other shops later to try.

Update:
Tried 2 food shop, failed Wave. PIN ok.

What i can observe:
1. Failed contactless shops use those Android full touch screen payment terminal. One is a White color one...i think it' the older SunMi model..last time i was involved in some projects using this. Another one looks strangely like an Android phone slapped onto an add on but i can't be sure, basically also full touch screen device.

2. The one at 7-11 (which works with contactless) was those old school type keypad with small lcd screen display terminal.

Next time when you try, take note of the payment terminals and share here.

711 ones are supplied by HLB hence it should work fine

Iinm the last time I use it as months backs in McDonald’s is the black ones by Maybank

Probably is the gateway setting on their terminal itself which causes this issue or only the bank supplied machines are configured to accept it
*
Yes, this probably. I am going to load in some SGD and try it in Singapore coming CNY.

Wise is supposed to charge only 1% fee for ATM withdrawal starting 3 Jan 2023, but I am still charged 1.75% on a 5th Jan withdrawal.

Has they reversed the fee reduction plan below?
