redmi = cheap range
mi = higher range

last time xiaomi used ads and their own service to cover back the small profit they had for every phone sold.
are their phone still plague with ads anymore? if not, then they probably asking for higher margin now.

do note, that snapdragon 865 is expensive, high refresh rate super amoled is expensive, glass back design are expensive, having multiple camera sensor are expensive too, same goes with wireless charging implementation
they are not going to compromise on those for their flagship phone, if want cheap, go for redmi models.

its MIUI and everything, but with no traces of ads/ccp at all. Yea its considered custom rom.

People out there only saw 1 brand only, which is Xiaomi.
They don't give a damn about the brand separation.

And Xiaomi is known for its affordable/cheap smartphone. You can't take away the customer mindset on that.

Xiaomi put high price until RM4K also people will look down as a cheap brand.

just buy redmi if you can't afford xiaomi

very old model sir, probably their strategy already changed. even my china phone with china rom only have ads on specific 'removeable' application like news.
i did try some of newer xiaomi model at their store, i dont think i saw any ads, but i may be wrong though.

That's because you didn't see what game they're actually playing before, Xiaomi already planned this from the very beginning. It is as expected, and now is the time.

Bought Mi 9 Lite and it's a crappy phone.
The Data Signal frequently drop, and cannot find the root cause of the issue.
Will not go for Xiaomi phone in the future

i dont think its changed yet, because XiaomiEU clearly highlight their perks (no ads MIUI)

About in-store display model...Huawei mate20 and p30 display model both have google feed when swipe to left . that's not the case on actual device (MY region)

still lacks IP67/68 though (I often take my phone to the swimming pool to capture photos of my children underwater).

also, 90Hz screen not really flagship territory anymore... upper mid-range maybe, but a lot of the main flagships offer 120Hz or even more.
