Toshiba is the best among all brands that u listed above.
Lenovo is cheaper compared to Toshiba and it is quite a powerful machine.

with your budget i would recommend u to go for Lenovo notebooks as TOshiba costs around 3k and above.

How "NORMAL" do you mean? College? Gaming? Daily online?

Currently using Studio XPS 16. She gave me everything I need, gaming(max out L4D perfectly), movie(if you could get RGBLED), music (nice speaker), college (if you burn midnight oils, the backlit was the best). What else? She's my gorgeous baby. =D

2 major problem, fingerprints on the palm rest and heat problem (cooler pad is a must)

Hey, just wanna ask here, is this processor good enough for vista?
Laptop is for work purposes and also some movie watching. =p
Assume RAM to be 2GB, and integrated graphics card

Intel® Core™2 Solo processor SU3500 (3 MB L2 cache, 1.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 5.50 W), supporting Intel® 64 architecture

Added on August 10, 2009, 4:24 pmif you posses technical skill or eager to learn how to troubleshoot computer hardware then go ahead to buy 2nd hand or refurbish laptops. If not then go foe brand new laptop and take 3 years warranty.

Make our life simple and easy...

for those buying a new laptop please view some user reviews and check the battery life.

Standard is now 2 hours but this is low for me. I would go for ones lasting 4 hours or more biggrin.gif

No point getting a "portable" laptop in the end have to search for Power outlet every hour.

Hi guys,

Need your advice. I am planning to get a laptop for the requirement below:

budget: 1.6k - 2k
processor: intel C2D (or Pentium Core Duo, non-AMD processor due to personal preference)
VGA: depends (i not sure, see my Casual Task below)
OS: Preferable Windows 7 (Vista also can lah, no OS is a pain as have to struggle to find drivers, also don't want kacau by Overseas Kastam)
LCD screen: 13 - 14"
RAM: 4GB preferable (minimum 2GB)
HDD: 250GB (or more)
optical drive: DVD+/-RW (must need optical drive)
Warranty: International warranty preferable (need to carry it to oversea, New Zealand)
Weight: the lower the better (anything less than 2kg with battery will be great! but not compromise a lot with processor power lah)

My Casual Task: online, Facebook, chatting, watch movie, songs, Adobe Photoshop, Dota

Please recommend...thanks!

Dunno bout photoshop, but based on personal experience with a CULV and AutoCAD, don't expect smooth performance. B

By the way, what is the exact laptop model in question?
