Greetings all, how are you today? I have a very old laptop, N55SF-2043V with i5 2410M CPU, and GT555M GPU, that I want to get it perform little bit better for gaming. say, pubg mobile emulator, I just cleaned my heat sinks, and applied new thermal paste for the very first time and I found out that our CPU in this current model appear to be able to swap. after digging some information, I think my mobo supports sockets of FCBGA1023, PPGA988. And I do understand that N55SF came with other i7 processors such as, Intel® Core™ i7 2670QM/2630QM Processor
Intel® Core™ i5 2430M/2410M Processor (which in my case it's i5 - 2410m)

all right, can my laptop support i7- 2640M? considering i buy that and swap it out from my laptop, here
according to this they both use the FCBGA1023 sockets, and where to find if my laptop is using rather FCBGA 1023 or PPGA988 or both?

hurm.

Thanks for your time, cheers. biggrin.gif

Edit :
I am looking to upgrade my GPU too, i know it sound crazy. but I am been thinking, like spending some money for the EXP GDC v8, and settle for some maybe GTX1060. then stay with this laptop for some more time?

However I saw and read in the EXP GDC v8 websites / seller page that n55sf which is my laptop is banned / black list lol. however, I did digged that it's possible to mod the bios in order to get it going. here. hurmmm. any inputs? thanks

1 thing to be sure is to keep your socket/TDP wattage same. then you will be safe to upgrade. good luck. I'm looking to upgrade my old lenovo G580 too. replaced, screen, keyboard, ram and ssd already last is replacing the pentium dual core.

Hey! Thank you so much for the input! okay, that means 35 TDP then. still digging more information, and looking around, just worry that after i buy the cpu and then found out it's not compatible with my bios or bla bla. hehe Actually looking if any n55sf owner, well still using their laptop and did some uppgrade! hehe. I am currently using HHDD, not a fan of that, considering to switch to SSD too. hurm..

has anyone figure out if the GT555 is up-gradable since its connected via a graphic slot?

Your having GT555m too? I am wondering this too, any road for this? my gt555m cant handle pubg mobile lei. I actually looked for EXP GDC v8 Beast, but no luck, I saw n55sf is in blacklist of not compaitble or rather need to mod bios to use. and not sure if it's the only thing need to do, or stable or not or bla bla. but still digging though about the eGPU. hurmmm.

SSD and RAM is a must to upgrade. And it's the easiest at the moment. CPU upgrade is a little tricky and you won't be able to get new CPUs. Hence the SSD and RAM is a must do so far.

My ram I upgraded to 4*2 once I just bought the n55sf on 2011. hurm. but i doubt it will handle 16gb. since I think this laptop is meant to be having max 8GB

SSD, any recommendation?

WD Blue 3D would be a good value buy since it has DRAM but not that much more expansive than cheaper SSDs.

Thank you for the input! May I ask what can I do to connect the SSD? say i but WD blue, 2xxGB, and current SHDD I remove it out, or is there way to sacrify my DVD room slot and go with the both drive, but i really don't need that much space, I rarely put anything in my laptop. i guess/ nod.gif
