Greetings all, how are you today? I have a very old laptop, N55SF-2043V with i5 2410M CPU, and GT555M GPU, that I want to get it perform little bit better for gaming. say, pubg mobile emulator, I just cleaned my heat sinks, and applied new thermal paste for the very first time and I found out that our CPU in this current model appear to be able to swap. after digging some information, I think my mobo supports sockets of FCBGA1023, PPGA988. And I do understand that N55SF came with other i7 processors such as, Intel® Core™ i7 2670QM/2630QM Processor
Intel® Core™ i5 2430M/2410M Processor (which in my case it's i5 - 2410m)
all right, can my laptop support i7- 2640M? considering i buy that and swap it out from my laptop,
hereaccording to this they both use the FCBGA1023 sockets, and where to find if my laptop is using rather FCBGA 1023 or PPGA988 or both?
hurm.
Thanks for your time, cheers.

Edit :
I am looking to upgrade my GPU too, i know it sound crazy. but I am been thinking, like spending some money for the EXP GDC v8, and settle for some maybe GTX1060. then stay with this laptop for some more time?
However I saw and read in the EXP GDC v8 websites / seller page that n55sf which is my laptop is banned / black list lol. however, I did digged that it's possible to mod the bios in order to get it going.
here. hurmmm. any inputs? thanks
I registered because I stumbled onto your thread while googling for upgrades for my N55SF. Mine is slightly different than yours as I have the i7-2670QM rather than the i5. Everything else was the same when stock (6GB RAM, 640GB HDD, GT555M, BR drive)
Since I've been locked down in my country (I'm not living in Malayisa), I went and did some long awaited upgrades to the laptop.
1. RAM
While ASUS officially states only 8GB RAM max is supported, I went and bought some second hand 2* 8GB COSAIR vengenace 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM sticks (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10), so totalling 16GB RAM. I replaced the sticks and Win 10 recognises them fine, CPU-Z and hwinfo confirm they are working as intended.
2. HDD to SSD
Had an old SanDisk m.2 SATA SSD I pulled from another laptop. Bought an enclosure for this and this replaced my boot 640GB HDD (after backing up all my stuff onto external), which leads me to ...
3. BR drive to HDD
Took out the optical drive using instructions here:
https://www.how-fixit.com/laptop-repair-gui...sus-n55-series/Instructions to remove optical drive faceplate here:
https://hddcaddy.eu/how-to-safely-remove-pl...-optical-drive/Bought another caddy that replaces the BR drive, and holds the HDD. You'll need to buy 12.7mm caddy as there are 9mm and 12.7mm.
This HDD is now my additonal data drive....onedrive and Google Drive live here along with some music and videos and other crap.
4. New battery
because why not,....OG battery is dead anyway.
5. Right angled power cable adapter
because the thick, straight plug had always annoyed the hell out of me.
6. Fresh Win 10 install
When I bought this laptop in 2011, it came with Win 7, then I got the free upgrades to 8, 8.1, and now 10 Pro. I needed a fresh install as the amount of crap I had built up over the years slowed it right down.
I downloaded all the drivers from Asus website, then had to make sure the install is MBR rather than GPT, as I heard the sonic master subwoofer refuses to work on GPT formatted installs. The subwoofer is the only reason I really want to use this laptop lol.
To do:
1. new WiFi card
This is incoming from China. I wanted to upgrade to Intel 7260HMW but apparantly its a piece of crap wth Win 10. I settled for a Broadcom (Bcm94352Hmb). Still waiting delivery.
I did consider buying a m.2 WiFi card (as they are newer), but with the N55SF, the SD card reader is right next to the mini PCIE slot so there is no room for m.2->mpcie adapter+WiFi card (and the antennae are different).
2. HD+ screen to FHD screen
Currently the stock screen is HD+, but I want to attempt the replacement to 1080p.....haven't built up the courage yet.
3. Re-paste
...yeah.
