This is how it works and theory works: The further u r away from Guangzhou (capital of Guangdong), the more u speak sub-Cantonese. The nearer u r to the next province, the more u speak sub-Cantonese. This is the situation in Guangdong.

I found this out after some Chinese in Guangdong claims that they speak Cantonese but when I listen to it, I was like "WTFBBQ?". Then I realized that they speak sub-Cantonese.
