Phone slowing down happening for almost any phone not specifically to low end or mid range Android phone, as it's also happening to flagship series.
Thanks to better soc, ram speed, rom speed then this issue got solved.
For security I can't say as I used both of Android and Ios, both having great security patches over time.
If you want peace of mind, I can say using Ios is better than Android.

I used to buy Android flagship, can last for 4 years hardware wise.

I agree cpu tech is getting competitive and better. Faster, efficient and less heat produced
