Hi,

ive an issue that has been happening in the past two months. of course, at first i ignored it since both of us working and the internet at home is not really used. now that we have to wfm, its becoming a problem.

my archer c5v doesnt give out IP, i have to set my ip manually in order to get internet.
i went into the router management page, already tried to disable the dhcp. reboot, and then enable it again. and reboot again. still no IP. then i thought. maybe because dhcp ipv6 was turn on. its causing a conflict. so i disabled that as well. still same thing. not getting ipv4

on top of that, its not using the dns server that we set . instead its using the dns server from WAN settings. obviously, this is causing us some grief since some sites need to be accessed via a third party dns and not telco dns...

i called maxis to request change of router. because of mco. cant do anything. computer shops are closed. not sure if lazada got delivery or not for non essential goods.

any advice ? on :

a) how to fix dhcp issue on this archer ?

b) how to chnge the dns on the wan settings ?

Best thing you can do at the moment is to get your pppoe username and password. Then try to reset the router and configure back. If problem persist then it's time to throw away the router and buy a better one.

Have you use cable direct to router? Does it work?

1. enable DHCP( that's what giving out the IP to the client)
2. try ethernet connection
3. reboot the router
4.consider replacing the router https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4658096

Why are you disabling the DHCP? DHCP is the one assigning an IP address to your devices connected to the router

dhcp was enabled. didnt work. so i disabled it and then re enable it just to see if that would restart the dhcp services.

nevermind. i solved this issue by changing my router . im using huawei now.

once mco is over, i'll contact maxis to replace the problematic router.

thanks for all of your advices. sorry for the delay in replying. its been a long time since i was active in lowyat forum, totally forgotten that i had asked for help here. i know. noob. am sorry.

cheers to all #staysafe #stayhome
