oh oo,
I thought their soldering iron are lower wattage...
but self solder one really need high skill,
and soldering techniques really need to practice a lot...
if not, u soldered out like tahi lo...

Later I show you my soldering skill..must set up my PC from hostel 1st. All my stuff is on that PC..

just finish my discussion with my supervisor...really headache..doh.gif
anyway, lohwenli, y not mention u from USM main campus?? its easier for me to pay visit to u la some day..(talking about the rams thinggy laugh.gif) can go TT somemore..maybe u can take a look at my broken Gc...
*
Thought you knew already..mentioned before a number of times..
Sure, let meet up sometime during the sem, now I'm at home in georgetown. During sem, anyone want to find me, almost guarantee I'll be in USM all the time, especially weekdays. Heard there's a bus service between the main campus and the transkrian campus, but can't find it, you know anything about it?

btw guys.. will i void the warranty if i open my psu cover?
*
Well yeah, if you koyak any warranty stickers while you're opening it.

QUOTE(rainingzero @ Nov 19 2007, 05:13 PM)
yeah, u do mentioned b4, forgot already..doh.gif
anyway, for the rams, still interested. we discuss it in pm...
therea are bus fetch students from transkrian to main campus.
8-9 am and 3-4pm from transkrian to be exact...but dunno where they do stop at main campus...

for @meno, from my humble and noob oppinion laugh.gif if u are into gaming, x1950pro would be the best choice.
8600gt suppose to be on par with 7600gt, just it only got advantage on dx10. if wanna buy dx10 gc, find something better...nod.gif

edit: just saw u are mentioning about galaxy 8600gt oc with 6pin power connector. the ocability may be close to 8600gts, but still 8600gts clocked higher with 1.0/1.1ns...(800/2000mhz)
*
Btw, about the rams, we'll have to do it sometime next week, I'll be in KL whole of this week, family trip.

And 8600GT is no longer 'just on par' with 7600GT with current drivers. Its almost as good as a 7900GS/x1950pro even at stock GT speed (only lag behind a bit), and it can easily be set to 8600GTS speed as long as the core is running on the same voltage (nothing a little hard modding can't fix, if lucky even pencil trick is enough)

QUOTE(rainingzero @ Nov 19 2007, 05:20 PM)
oic...why not considering 8600gts?? i think no prob to handle those games...nod.gif
u always playing racing sim games arr?? me also love it..smile.gif
*
No point, you can overclock a 8600GT to GTS easily. Only catch would be the a bit more cooling, set to the same core voltage and have memory chips same as GTS spec. Cards without PCI-E aux power connectors might need a little modding for enough power, but thats about it. GTS for almost RM150 cheaper.

QUOTE(@meno @ Nov 19 2007, 06:36 PM)
Wah, all tell me to get 1950pro, but how bout power consumption?
My PSU dun have 6pin PCI-E, can power up the 1950pro ar?
If cannot powerup, then lagi no need to talk OC lar.Or KC u got any sui sui GC to loan me 1st...hehe...
*
X1950pro doesn't take up much power bro.. comparing it with a X1900XTX is like comparing a superclocked Barton with a typical medium clocked A64. Mine barely goes beyond 60C (on stock la, overclock is about 5-7C higher), and yet its fan is the quietest one in my system.

Adrian
i no card to borrow u now as my sifu took back teh 7800GTX liao.

btw,i can give u the molex to pcie connector

but do remember,if ur psu has no pcie connector and use convertor,it stress ur psu a lot.
*
I can fix that..as it is I already mess around with his PSU quite a bit. Gonna mess around with mine soon.
Btw that connector is still acceptable for graphics cards taking 60-80W or less, more only it starts to become an issue. The voltage drop is usually not that bad unless the connector is FUBAR.

QUOTE(AceCombat @ Nov 19 2007, 07:27 PM)
but it still stress more than originally come pcie connector right?
*
Depends on how much current is drawn by the card. 60-80W is only 5-7A or so, and is actually a bit less since some of it is drawn through the PCI-E, so that much is ok. More than that would result in a voltage drop due to the resistance of the connector. I wouldn't really call it stress, but with high currents small changes in the resistance (like if the connector becomes loose), the voltage may drop all over the place causing the graphics card hang. But seriously, this is usually the least likely of graphic card problems, other issues are far more likely.

QUOTE(rainingzero @ Nov 19 2007, 07:28 PM)
yeah, this week also cannot. really busy. dunno next week also...

i thought there are hardly seen 8600gt which using same chips as 8600gts?? coz most of 8600gts using 1.0ns and 8600gt would be 1.2ns....
the oc-ability between these two chips pretty obvious....
*
You'll be surprised. There are a few manufacturers which try to be funny. Ask @meno, he found one such case (Colorful).

saw some forumer said this phenom is worse in ocing too...
dunno la how AMD encounter the prob, coz thinking of getting lower end phenom and oc it....
*
I said it. But apparently I'm wrong to some extent, it does better than Brisbane, and almost as good as windsor F3s. And there is still room for improvement, the current steppings are still quite early.

i dont think AMD survive with its price if like that,a Q6600 with 65nm almost same price with it and perfom more better right?
*
QUOTE(cschun86 @ Nov 21 2007, 08:37 AM)
ya, dun really think they will survive,
futhermore the intel sure price slash the 65nm processor once the penryn launch into market...
*
Not really, consider this:

AMD's processors are all backwards compatible for socket AM2 or newer. Basically upgrading will only mean changing the processor, nothing else. Makes for a dirt cheap upgrade. And this is expected to carry on till at least 2009, perhaps longer. While the poor intel dudes have to keep changing boards with each FSB increment, and no current board for Intel will be able to work with Nehalem, which will be out end of next year.
