OK, so I also kena before ... similar to you ... begging pleading via email can try sometimes they revert. Mostly automated, so no one listens or acts.
After 1 to 2 months the system releases the ban. You no choice but get another number use that first and when you are released port back to your old number.
You will get booted out from all your existing groups.
Use the modded app makes no difference.

i use modded one because can manipulate bluetick and last seen feature. For example can always online even im not online and vice versa. You can even see who's online when they turned last seen off. Very useful for cheating awek.
But best thing is can sent full resolution image and can share movies because have much larger video limits.

I recently got ban in whatsapp , due to one friend of reporting me to Whatsapp, and when i woke the next morning
i got a hard ban from whatsapp, You should write an email to whatsapp , explaining to them that you dont fully understand
the reason for the ban and you want a proper explanation .
By 6 - 7 hours you should have your whatsapp back but there will be no more appeal after this , based on their email.

It is co-developed by the same person who created WhatsApp.

after flagging them with 20 mails. they finally replied and say sorry.
