Hi, I am using UBS for my office use, I am just wondering is there anyway that I can duplicate another thumb myself because I have changed almost 3 thumb after warranty period and it cost me around RM300 per thumb.
For those who never know UBS, it's thumb is totally different from our normal thumb drive, when you plug into your USB thumb driver, it wont detect any new hardware, it's just show nothing in thumb driver.
Please help.

yes the UBS dongle is a smartlock for license key . its a HW based license instead of product key. hm u may call UBS support team they may give u a product key and a file for u to access UBS.

yeah, it's a UBS software. If I call them, they will give me a new thumb license key, but after 1 year (after warranty period), then I need to pay RM300 for it. No one know how I can dup 1 to keep as backup?

Technically, you're not supposed to duplicate a key nor it's possible to duplicate one. After a long time, then recently some people knew how to make the dongle themselves for piracy purpose. So I would say it's impossible to duplicate one without going to UBS, unless you want to step into the illegal side.

From what I know, they are using certificate now.

My wife still use the parallel dongle...damn...my PC dun have parallel port alreadfy...bought a PCI parallel port but it doesn't work with the SmartLock dongle...just don't detect it eventhough the parallel card seems to be working fine...
So i have to remote access from the main PC to my HTPC (which has a built in parallel port, but it's connected to the LCD TV ) to use the dumb software....
I'm so tempted to do my own parallel port since my mobo has the pin, but not the brackets...even bought the parts but not so sure i can do the soldering...*sigh*...anybody got cracks??

QUOTE(tuanbriyan @ Jan 17 2008, 11:34 PM) what if the dongle stolen ? how can i get a replacement ? i thought you have to buy the package itself ? RM1000+ software dongles have many models and different manufacturers. It is almost impossible to crack into it if the software developers utilize all the features of the dongle. of course difference models difference prices and different security level. depend how much the software developer is willing to pay to protect his software. Im working in a security device company they sell dongles to software developers. Im not on the sales side but have some product knowledge la. Tuanbriyan, I think if the dongle is stolen u need to find your software provider la. They can replace a dongle for you. Noneed to buy a new pack.
