They are located at ESCA underground shopping.

taikor, is it Inou Hitsumabushi ESCA within Nagoya station? have you happen to try Maruya alos located within the station?

will be passing through on my way to Osaka so thought of tapao and eat on the train tongue.gif
*
It's not Inou. It's Bincho, they have a few in Nagoya. The one I went is walking distance from Nagoya Station and it's underground called ESCA underground shopping

Google map will guide you to the stairs leading down to ESCA underground shopping but will not point you to the exact shop. need to walk around and find base on picture in google map

Dumb question, How different is the eel rice in Nagoya vs other cities? Because I’m just passing by Nagoya, might not have the luxury of time to put bags in the locker and go to another station just to buy a snack😅
*
Nagoya eel are slightly different from other place. The outer layer are slightly crispy and the inner part soft. The taste are more smoky.

It's an acquired taste like durian. Some like MSK while some like red prawn.

In life, try everything and see what you like best. I traveled at least 5x/year to Japan (due to work) for the past 30 years and will never hesitate to try everything that are local favorite.

Just saw news, cherry blossom started today in Tokyo.

Already bought ticket month ago, will this timing still able to see it?

26 to 29 March (Osaka & Kyoto)

1st to 6th April (Tokyo)
*
You might still catch the end of the bloom in Osaka & Kyoto) The river will be flowing with sakura petals and it's very beautiful

Normally how long will it last for the bloom right after peak?
*
a week or 2, nowadays they plant different sakura trees together (earlyand late bloom species) to make the experience last longer

Hi does anyone have any recommendations on affordable yet good hotels near Ueno station?

Going with family of 4. Can be 2 rooms. Probably cheaper than a family room.

Additionally, any ryokan recommendations for kyoto? 3 days is good in kyoto and 2 days in osaka? Thank you!
*
Affordable are very different depending on a person's wealth

To some US$150/night is affordable

Oh 3 hours??  shocking.gif This is because during peak sakura season? Other times is faster i guess  hmm.gif

Depends on the date you enter Japan. I went in Oct last year when they just reopened, it took me less than 20 mins to go thru everything and out to arrival hall

I went again before Christmas and the immigration queue alone is 30 minutes

Got back from Japan earlier this week, sharing a few info:
1. Tokyo is more than 80% using credit/prepaid card. Not sure where I read people saying Japan prefer cash. Not with Tokyo.
2. I tested among Wise, TnGo and Bigpay visa prepaid card, Wise gives best exchange rate. I tried so you no need to try.
For more info please refer: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry107009880
3. Cash (changed from mid valley money changer) still gives best rate. Though if you do not spend much the discrepancy might not be significant. Might as well just use Wise to make life easier.
*
Many were giving old info based on their travels 7-10 years ago where credit card acceptance was very low.

Tokyo after Covid have gone mostly cashless. Only place that still only accept cash are those old eateries handed down thru the generations and owned by elderly couple

Small eateries, Izakaya mostly are cash.
Most of ramen shop still cash because mostly have to order thru small machine outside.

Accept card mostly are chain store and new open eateries and 50% Michelin guided eateries. If you go those real serving local restaurant which never appear in internet, they still accept cash only.
*
Sounds like you have not been back to Tokyo for a while. Many small eateries and Izakaya around tokyo have all upgraded to cashless payment machine.

I been Tokyo and Kansai area last month. I was think why got so big differences until I realised, Most of ppl people going Tokyo are tourist including you, the route you heading are tourist zone and I was opposite way, I am heading living as local direction. The eateries and Izakaya are non serving tourist. The placed I heading was Kodaira, Tachikawa, Hachioji, Takao side.  I was on West side of Tokyo which is residential area.
*
Almost everyone here are tourist heading to Tokyo visiting tourist attractions and staying at tourist area. Naturally, they will be asking questions pertaining to tourist area and we give them answers which will help them when they reach there

The flight time and fare price seems OK?

Should I buy 1st and do all the other stuffs later?
*
This flight time means you are transiting somewhere for approx 4-5 hours

Price depends on which airline. If taking Singapore Airlines, the price is OK

Wow mine is also 645 HND

Did the hotel allow early check in?
*
Depends on which hotel you book, some will allow early check in with payment and some strictly follow official check in time.

But almost all will keep your bags (free of charge) and you can go out to walk around until check in time

Wanna ask how much do people generally spend in a one week Japan trip?
Is RM10K including flight ticket sufficient?
*
Depends how much is your flight ticket and Hotel but RM$10,000 is sufficient if not staying at 4/5 star hotel or last minute travel during peak period.

Thanks for the insight.
Planning to go on early November, flight ticket I checked is around RM2550, so that left me with RM7,450.
Don't plan to stay in any fancy accommodation but if budget permits maybe will splurge one night in a decent ryokan.
How was your tour like? Are you able to spend comfortably with that budget or have to be mindful when spending on meals and accomodations?
*
If your hotel do not exceed RM$3000 for your one week stay, then it's more than enough to spend on food , attractions ticket and train around Tokyo. + some snacks shopping

Hi everyone. Do you have recommendation for reputable Malaysia tour agency to Japan? Will be travelling with elderly people so self travel is not really an option…
*
Golden Destination or Apple Tour. Both are good.

Hi, would like to ask, if I were to get into Japan via Haneda with ANA and land at 10.15pm, what are the chances that I can make it out of Haneda before the last train? Because I am not really sure how long it'll take for  me to clear everything.
*
Depends which month you are going. Off peak, that timing Haneda very quiet. Can clear within 30 minutes

Peak period, you better be among the first few to leave aircraft and RUN as fast as possible to immigration, pray hard your plane was not parked at the far end of the extended wing (very far to run)

Hi everyone, first time visiting Japan and hope to get some guidance -

Arrive Tokyo Narita - Jun 28 7:05 AM
Depart Tokyo Narita - July 2 11:15 AM

Do you recon it will have enough time for Osaka ? - it only took 2 hours 30m to travel between Tokyo and Osaka with Tokaido- Sanyo Shinkansen - seems like US is more fun compare to Disney

Do you think it worth scarifying 2 days on Osaka just for Universal Studio ( I know that is subjective - but just taking other view before considering my option)

thanks
*
You don't even have time to completely see Tokyo. Leave Osaka for next trip and bundle together with kyoto
