hmm talking about limitations to the board, i cant help decide whether to let go of my abit ip35e or just get a better processor, theres a lot of Vcore increases and Vmch etc increase i have done but it just stops at 460Mhz(FSB).

Fair enough it does share the same clock but the cooling would be better figuring that its a 45nm assembly and benchmarking would be tad better than the e6850 dur to the cache.. hmm price.. how much is it now? is it worth getting it or is it better to wait for the Yorkfield instead..
*
There is alot of cases saying that IP35-E having issues during OC. So I think you better invest into better boards if serious in OC. E.G. DFI LP X38 or those upcoming X48 based mobo.

If you into SuperPI benchmark, E8400/E8500.
If 3DMark, Quad.

can the Asus P5N32E-SLI motherboard support this E8400? anyone try OC E8400 in this mobo?
*
I wanted to see that too.. Those western benchmark ppl having problem posting their 45nm proc on those 680i and 650i based mobo.

waaa.. kuat racun punya org
need to do long long loooong consideration before throwing my quaddy

if not much diff by performance, then i might as well stick with my lousy q6600 here.. zzZZzz
*
Actually, in term of 3dmark benching... Your Q6600 still kick E84/E85's ass. Haha.. So I think you better stick with ur Q6600 at least till Q955/Q945 smile.gif

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Jan 8 2008, 04:42 PM)
sell your Q6600 to me and get that 45nm, whistling.gif...

anyway... i just passed 5 hours stress test on 333x9 @1.3vCore rclxm9.gif, pretty good for E4500 thumbup.gif (SOLD though)
*
LOL.... If u want quad, why not wait for Q9550 since you can afford that ? Hehe..

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Jan 8 2008, 05:34 PM)
whats the stock voltage for a e8400.
curious
seeing a lot of ppl having different voltages for this proc at stock speed auto setting.
*
I cant answer that. But it is written on the box stated 1.225 Voltage Max. But my proc stock vcore is below 1.2

another feature missing on the e8400 vs e6850
the enchanced halt state is not as advance.

at idle the e6850 is cooler.
*
Hmmm... My E8400 idle temp is lower than all my previous Intel processor (E6850, E66, x68 and so on). I thought they have implemented those latest power saving stuff, something called CIA2. No?

Oh ya.. you using stock cooler?

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 8 2008, 08:42 PM)
so i guess id sell my conroe and go for the wolfsdale instead. hmm, thanks irangan bro and cstkl1:) hehe.

Hmm so this DFI board, anyone here got any experience with the X38s? coz my eyes are on either the EVGA or Asus
*
U better use your current processor unless you into benching cuz you will find much difference for the upgrade.

If u are using DDR2, DFI LP x38 is one of the best in the market for OC. But if DDR3, go for Maximus Extreme or P5E3 Deluxe.

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Jan 8 2008, 09:02 PM)
hmmm initially thought of not posting but what the heck

oh yeah this was using dumb cooler and a cheap ram.

Proc:E8400 Q746A332@ 3.6ghz 1.15v
Mobo: Asus Maximus Formula SE
Ram: OCZ Gamer Gold XTC - PC2-6400 CL5 @ 2.1v

if this is not a good batch then i have no idea what is..

so far as i can tell this are the voltages for this batch

Stock voltage = 1.09

400x8.5=3.4@1.1v (i think u can say stock voltage.. i couldnt do less 0.01v on the maximus)
400x9.0=3.6ghz@1.15v

Settings for the rest of the voltages : Lowest value.

cant attempt 4ghz yet till i have my sweet rams return back from rma..
*
Not bad result.. Mind to post the idle/load temp for it?

Awaiting for your 4ghz daily run.

Currently I can run my 4ghz stable at 1.35vcore (during full load is 1.33). Again, cant exceed 4.2ghz due to my board sad.gif

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 8 2008, 09:49 PM)
damn thats a damn low voltage lolol. By the way whats the mulitplier range for the wolfsdale series?
*
8.5, 9, 9.5

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 8 2008, 10:15 PM)
nice.. with a little touch of 0.5 lolol. hmm what board is perfect for this wolfsdale?
*
x48? smile.gif

QUOTE(kerryking @ Jan 9 2008, 12:46 AM)
cstkl and irangan mind to share the temps for e8400
*
AirCond
22'C Idle
30'C Load

Non AirCond
26'C Idle
35'C Load

All these temp is based on 4ghz @ 1.35vcore and watercooling.

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jan 9 2008, 06:57 AM)
What's your core temperature at that settings? You're using stock cooler right?
*
Using watercooling. Never take out / use my stock cooler to preserve the resell value.

Oh ya... I cant detect the temp using 0.96 Coretemp or my Everest 4.2 Ultimate. Its temp reading will just stuck at 46/25 and remains the same even during full load.

So using gigabyte software for the temp reading. Probably not that accurate.
