hey guys , actually im searching for a US version ps3 60 or 80 for ps2 backward compatibility to play ps2 english titles such as ff12 and such using the upscaling capability of the ps3, cause ive been told that if i want to play english ps2 games i need to get the us version of the ps3 and not the sg or jp or asian or whatever ver.. is this true ? the no region is only for ps3 games i assume. so no matter what version of the ps3 it still can play games that i bought in the us or jp . im just digging up info on this machine and hv been looking around for prices. thinking of the 40gig but then it doesnt hv backward compatibility , but then again , i just want to play ff series ( 7 8 9 10 x-2 12) on HD thats all. its like sort of a personal quest for me to get me distracted in life. heh. so anyone know of where to get us version in malaysia . any help is appreciated.

40gb n 80gb got a lot of diff, for starters there's the 40 gig difference in hdd space, and also the backward compatibility for ps2 games is non-existence on the 40gb. although the 80gb one just use software emulation to play ps2 games , the best they say for backward compatibility is the 60gb because of the hardware of the ps2 is in the 60gb model. 40gb can only play ps1 games for backward compatibility, correct me if im wrong.

arghhh this thread is really racuning me to get us ps3 80g........

currently im playing those ps2 games on my lcd tv with component cable , plus ive download a software that can upscale the pic to 480p , 730p or 1080i on my lcd, and so far the game looks nicer then without the software, jaggies gone. ive tested with mgs2 mgs3 ff12 even zone of enders (old game) , they all look super . but i hv 1 slight problem , when they upscale the pic , the pic become smaller, so i need to use my lcd tv zoom function to make it bigger. so usually i play with my face to the screen...... but yeah its very good playing ps2 games with the software, its like having a new toy feeling.

true , saw it before at the many sony centre , but donno about the warranty and such , cause if its official pun , there's no news about it . i guess ps3 in malaysia or sg same , except why price here so high 1999 , at sg just 1200 at their sony centre if im not mistaken , correct me if im wrong about all this. after malaysian tax can become 1999 eh ? gila la.

so all in all holiday plaza in JB is cheaper then KL and SG ? but still carry the warranty from sony singapore ? ahh holiday plaza my hunting ground with my grandfather for micro genius games back in the days , we would stop over at swensen after our round there hahahaha

getting home and not able to turn on my ps3 because of kepala power cable tak support ( lubang tak sama ) priceless..............

nah my friend say any computer power cable also can do , same . so tmrw i will go to my office and take one.

where do u get the socket converter ? i just swipe out of the computer power cable at office je . very free and no one using hehe

1 game per month is quite ok , some cant even fork that much .

thats a steal for a 40gb ps3 , 1420 with 2 joypad and 1 is ds3 .

seriously just buy in malaysia from these nice ppl in lowyat forum, nelson bernard djinn , just take ur pick . warranty easier as its in sg . an no compatibility issue at all for ps3 games.

seriously yeah la , i was in there once looking for ps3 games, i was REALLY gonna buy 1 no matter what , but i got the same feeling as some ppl here hv experience, so i ciao la . ending up not buying. huhu
